Aye, tbh you do have some good experience of signing ageing, has been, expensive, money grabbing crocks.

Let's hope he turns out to be a better buy than Michael Owen, how much was he on again when he helped to relegate you..?

:lol::lol::lol:

Very decent player but never understood why he swapped Spurs for Portsmouth or why go to the MLS and Toronto. I'm pretty sure that he could have gone to stronger clubs on both occasions. Perhaps he's driven by money.

He might do wel for you, if he stays clear of injury as some radio pundit did say he had a history for getting crocked.

Absolutely no pressure on him. His prededessor turned out to be complete donkey so even a couple of goals will be seen as a massive improvement.

I think he just likes to play football. Not someone who takes well to being on the bench.

As they say in the MLS, Ellis Short has made a Premier League Soccer Power Play. Let's hope former Toronto FC all-star ball player Jermain Defoe can continue to work his magic in the endzone at Team Sunderland.

he is but the fletcher shite is exactly that.........

What Fletcher shite? That he enjoys a drink? I don't think he's waking up and getting stuck into Buckfast for breakfast like, but there's no denying he likes a drink. He was pictured drinking vodka straight from the bottle after beating the mags last season. I'd rather have players who have decided they are going to give themselves the best possible chance of being in the best physical condition that they can be, and being teetotal certainly helps with that one.

??

You lot tried to sign him before he went to the MLS didn't you?

Stepped aside.

Sour grapes.

Champagne not cava.

He's going to tear you rabble apart in the next derby.

5 in a row fingers crossed.;)

it is not a million miles apart aye, but the difference between having two dropping back i think would be massive, our centrehalfs currently hit it long so often as they don't have options, one man can be marked out of the game alot easier than two and with both catts and larsson dropping back it gives our defense more opportunity to play it out from the back, to players with decent range of passing anarl, plus the more solid defense allows johnson and giaccherini to get further up the pitch and not be recieving it in our own half...
Very good points, didn't really think about it like that, I guess in a perfect world we could switch between those two formations depending on the opponent/venue etc...

Tidied.

Not claiming to be ITK here but I've just had a mate ring me to say he's had a tip off that Defoe is signing for us tomorrow. He has no connection to Sunderland this lad so would be a random one for him to make up. He wouldn't tell me who is source is, but through his job I imagine he has a few decent contacts.

Just put £20 on it at 2/1 in case - he's put £100 on it.

Will wait and see.
Let's get serious!

never have a history as bad as Owen or de Jong.
why did Owen move from Madrid to nufc? it wasn't football reasons.
