Aye, seems like we've been the club to push through the deal. Mirror reporting the finances of the deal. How accurate that is I reckon we'll never know. But, Refreshing to see that we've actually paid top dollar for someone who is guaranteed to improve us imo.

The 14m is the wages marra, so once offset against the departing Jozy, it probably equates to less then 2m extra a season.

It very much fits with our policy of shipping out a player before bringing a new one in.

Problem is the teams he's played for have always provided quality service at their respective levels. If our midfield who's made every striker we've had the last 2 years look like shit, you bet defoe won't be something out of the ordinary. Note he was also prone to injury in TFC.
 
I think it's safe to assume that we won't be throwing money around that we haven't got. It's why Ellis appointed a director of football in the first place, to tighten up the transfer fees etc.

Altidore out, Defoe in. Most of the fee on his wages. Quality.
