True. Yet he's a natural goal scorer, regardless of his age, and he'll create more problems for defenders than any of the other fuckers we've got playing up front for us. At the end of the day, I'm a supporter, not an accountant, and all I want to see is the best players possible wearing a Sunderland shirt. And Defoe would become our best striker instantly if he signs.

Trivial point, but we could actually of got more money for Altidore in a straight sale, but I guess a proven goal scorer is needed

The thing is, I am convinced Fletcher can score goals in this league, just no in this formation, if he played for West Ham he would score a lot more IMO

Financially the deal is great for us, instead of a big transfer fee plus wages we just have £14 million in wages to pay over three and a half years. That's if the reported amounts are correct.

It could be a masterstroke. Like he's 32 and probably not as good as he was but proven premier league goalscoring strikers are worth their weight in gold.
