Defoe

I actually agree with alot of that, I've been wanting Giacc instead of Gomez for a while now. However, I don't think it's the system that doesn't support the striker scoring goals, I actually think it's the personnel that's the problem.

Gus is constantly trying to get players to play higher, but our defenders are too slow to maintain such a high line. Don't get me wrong, I love JOS & Wes, but they drag the whole team back when they try to compensate for their lack of pace. Add to that our patchwork situation at fullback due to injury, and our inability to string a couple of passes together then isolation of the striker becomes inevitable.

We have seen the system work if we have the right players, but that will take more time.

I am sorry but this argument is just complete rubbish

How fast is Evertons back line, West Hams? Stokes? Newcastles? None of them are faster, people have built this into a massive deal, just because you haven't got olympic sprinters as your centre backs, doesn't mean you have to have 11 men behind the ball

The system is the problem, against Hull there was absolutely nobody anywhere near Fletcher, I watched it the whole half, now are you telling me we need to sit that deep against that Hull side

not having it for one moment, there is absolutely no need to have 3 deep centre mids, no other team in the league does it.

it won't be for want of trying if it doesn't

on both sides, he was really impressed with the set up when he came up 18 months ago

I hope you are right. At the end of the day, all the teams at the bottom lack one thing and that's a proven goalscorer. I don't really give two hoots about the cost if we can get one through the door. OK he's not in his prime and won't be going to Man City, Man Utd or Chelsea but apparently 10 premier league clubs are interested. Even if he's half the player who left Spurs he would improve us.

The deal just gets bigger

Toronto striker Jermain Defoe, 32, has agreed a staggering £14m deal to return to English football permanently with Sunderland.
£14m, jesus wept, even with wages included that's a joke

Agree completely. I'd rather a 32 year old Defoe up front for us than any of the forwards we currently have, regardless of what we pay. Not like the club are going to throw sackfulls of cash his way if we can't afford it.
Exactly mate. Why any sunderland fan would think swapping defoe, a proven premier league goalscorer, for altidore who has one goal in 42 appearances is a bad move is f***ing clueless.

And look at Brown now, biggest liability in the Prem.
No doubt he's put in a good shift for us, but he should have been moved on last summer. We're stuck with him until he retires unfortunately.

What the fuck are you talking about?

six 0-0s, how many other draws?

he hasn't been a problem, we can't score, that is why we are 16th man ffs. not rocket science.

Slight amendment

We have two Premier League Centre Backs who can't get in the team over him.

He's better than our current strikers, but fuck me if we are willing to give wages like that out why don't we go for someone younger!
