Defoe

Another new article about Defoe. A former Sunderland keeper comfirming the deal is close.

No argument we need a lift....and to be honest we're always going to have to overpay for someone on the way down in their career.

£14m over 3.5 years is a hell of a lot of money but there again we were happy to throw that at FB before wages so we can't complain. If he keeps us up he'll have paid for himself this season.

Very interesting to see how we utilise him. If we play 4-5-1 where does he fit in - yes of course up front but how do we get the best out of him.

Good signing - hopefully a great one.

And hopefully it results in one or two wanting to come to us.

What he will offer is pace and movement up front which none of our lot do at present

Good signing if true, dont really care about the wages. Its not my money. However, unless we dramatically improve on the amount of chances we provide our strikers with, I cant see him getting a glut of goals.

Defoe is/was f***ing class. I imagine he would compliment fletcher well up front. Poyet would SURELY have to play two up front if we somehow got Defoe, surely.

Dreadful signing, please explain.
I don't think it's unreasonable to not be thrilled about this. He has no obvious role in "the system" and if he loses some of his pace, he'll be hard to move on those wages.

I'm pretty ambivalent. Who knows. See how it plays out. We can't be going back to 5-3-2, can we?
