love how the co-commentator said it was great skill for Aguero to go past Coates for his goal but was also terrible defending by Coates..... it can't be both surely

some amazing comments on this thread considering who we're playing. Do people expect us to shut all top teams out just because we kept Chelsea out? Football doesn't work like that, and City banged in 3 in their last away game to 2nd in the league (and best defence). Done OK in my book, but if City play well we lose and they are playing quite well so far

It's just the tactics, as I said before, sitting back and keeping it tight is great, but against quality they will inevitable get a chance and score, such quality via Aguero has got them two goals. We need to be more forward thinking, more positive. For instance, this got Boyata and Demichellis at centre half, pretty average wouldn't you say? Or at least a weakness, get Jozy and Alvarez on and go 2 through the middle, have a go.

They have pulled us all over which Chelsea failed to do. Their quality is immense but as has been said, if we get our shape back we could get something. Another one for them and it is roll on Saturday.

Don't expect him to carry the side, hes not on agueros level, but in the same breathe, whens hes on the ball I dont see his 'quality', he should be standing out to some degree, currently being outshone by Catts and Larsson, particuarly effort wise.

That's the problem, he is never on the ball or in the game. If he has touched the ball 5 times this half I would be surprised. I am starting to wonder what his role in the team is. He neither attacks or defends, just wanders around aimlessly in the middle.

Stay in the game until 75 minutes and then give them everything. We are still in this despite City's impressive ball play. We're doing canny. Just need to keep them out for the next 30 mins.

Disappointing to go down a goal after we started the better team and went in front. And had the Rodwell chance too.

Aguero is class but goals were defensive errors, first one in particular was shit.

We're doing okay in some parts but were well under the cosh... long balls up the field not working, neither Fletcher nor Wickham winning enough and the balls to them are shit too. We actually passed it a bit at the end and looked better. Their defence looks shaky, but we need to try getting in behind them rather than lob long balls to them. Buckley isn't doing much after a good start. I'd love to see Ricky coming on. Fletcher & Rodwell aren't doing great either.

Larsson's been good imo, Catts & Vergini solid. Wickham our best attacking player.... O'Shea has been good bar the 2nd goal.

Still in the game, have to believe.

How he didn't take that, criminal at this level, just drill the fucker into the top of the net.

I never for one minute thought we could keep man city quiet 3 days after a clean sheet vs Chelsea as city were always going to learn from Chelsea's mistakes.

City been excellent, we started well then got outclassed. Let's hope city aren't in the mood for daft numbers.

Coates all over the place, Rodwell anonymous, Reveillere beaten every time, Buckley hasn't touched the ball since he squared it to Rodwell five minutes in, Wickham can't control the ball. Poor.

Larsson's been absolutely excellent.

Our passing has been absolutely dreadful, it's a massive difference.

we've had just as many men behind the ball. Man City are moving us better than Chelsea were. The first twenty minutes tonight we've done more than we did against Chelsea until the last ten

Coates just ran towards him like a 9 year old kid.
Any half decent striker would have walked past him.

I think we look very tired, not sure we have anything on the bench to get us back in it. Thought it was bad defending for their first, should not have a clear shot that far out after beating one man, very good finish though

Especially how good Sunderland have been the last couple of home games against them, it cant last forever.

although you never know in sport ;)

I'm not even pissed off, Man City have been very impressive.
We are playing some great stuff and are causing City a canny few problems. This is the attitude I like to see Sunderland playing with. The gulf in class of players because of finance is the only thing that that has put them 2-1 up. I love Sunderland, HA'WAY THE LADS, COM'ON!!!!!!

We are slightly less tight than the chelsea game, and we aren't passing as well. I think that's the difference. Costa only managed to get a few touches against us because they never got the ball to him.
City on the other hand are playing wider and getting the ball to aguero more.
We haven't been awful, just a few defensive errors have let us down.

Their defence looks suspect, so if we can lock up second half we might still be able to nick something back
