A good few hundred sang "dont worry" when getting stuffed 3-0 at home to fulham. It didnt even stop when the full time whistle went. A couple of players praised those fans in the local rags. The video of it, on youtube, attracted priase from fans not only from all around this country, but also the world. Was tremendous to be a part of it.

  • By 1998 Sunderland had won 1 domestic trophy in 60 years. They had suffered third division football, 3 trips to Wembley in which they failed to score a solitary goal, and had not been in the top half of the top flight for 40 years. The Club had been relegated 7 times in that period. A whole generation had grown up on a diet of, at best, mediocrity. In terms of what should be parallel clubs e.g. Arsenal, Aston Villa and Liverpool the transfer outlay was insignificant, a lack of "stars" evident.
Playing Reading on a Tuesday night in February they attracted over 40,000 to what was a Nationwide "second division game". Can someone please tell me what other Club in British, perhaps world football, could emulate that feat, having endured so much?

The words "I'm thinking hard" and "none" spring to mind.
Mbh wrote that. Which is ironic considering he spends most of his time here slating the fans if Sunderland win. And slating the club hierarchy after a loss.

Loads on here slated it as well. I love that chant. Just wish we didn't have to sing it at 140 bpm.

Bloke in front of us at Palace "aw sunlun man, ya f*cking shite, haway the lads" made me laugh , just about sums up supporting the lads!

Remember thinking after I looked around the SoL a few moments after Wes Brown's dreadful mistake against Arsenal: 'How the fuck does this club get crowds of 45000?' Simply amazing.

And in response his song was sang for about 20 mins none stop. Class.

Most agree, I've told this story before but I'll tell it again. Me and me mate walked into a pub before the 2-4 Chelsea game. As soon as we walked in we realised we'd wandered into away territory, it was like one of them films when the bar went quiet as soon as we walked in. Anyway we though we are here now we will see it out. I went to the bar and this bloke said sing a song, me and me mate looked at each other and thought let's go for it. We burst into a round of Shearer is a wanker, the Chelsea lot bought our beers
It's almost guaranteed that if they don't hate mags around the country, most have them keep a little hate in their hearts for Mr Smug:lol::lol:

Cant believe all the attention this Jardine prick receives. He doesn't go to games and comes on here to wind people up. I honestly don't think hes a massive lads fan, just a mag prick on a wind up.

Ignore the fckin arsehole because he will be loving this and he will eventually go away if people don't reply to him.

Tidied there mate.

Agreed though.

Douglas Jardine, the captain from the bodyline ashes series. By all accounts an odious stuck up and comtemptable man.
The greatest English captain across any sport!
Found a way to win, did it at all costs and to hell with the consequences.
Don't imagine he'd have been singing merrily if his side was getting humped!

So you preach high morals in some areas but not in others?

For the record I know he broke no rules, but he hardly conducted his actions with much morality.
Morality?
I still struggle to see what he did that was so wrong. He devised a plan to nullify the greatest batsman that ever lived and it worked.
If the Aussies had done that to us they'd still be whooping and hollering about it to this day!
England will happily celebrate losers for some bizarre reason rather than champion it's winners.
Bruno more popular than Lennox.
White more popular then Davis.
Eubank was only ever appreciated once he lost.
I'll never understand it.

You should have been a Leeds fan then, not a Sunderland fan.
