Major Update: Why The UK WWE Network Launch Was Delayed Today

WWE was expected to launch the WWE Network today for fans in the UK. Within the hour of the launch, WWE announced via social media that the launch has been delayed until further notice.

WZ has spoke with sources inside WWE who have informed us the delay was caused by a legal matter with Sky Sports.

For those unfamiliar, Sky Sports is the carrier of WWE pay-per-view content in The UK. A 2015 contract had already been negotiated upon for the distribution and payment of the WWE PPV’s. It seems Sky Sports has been disputing WWE over the legalities of the Network and its interference on their agreed upon deal. This has been the cause of the numerous delays for the information and launching in the UK stemming back to the original 10/1 launch date.

What is not yet clear is the probable communication breakdown with WWE announcing a launch to happen today, and then at the last minute having to delay it, again, appearing to be caused by Sky Sports.

A source in WWE told us the company could buyout the deal with Sky Sports but it would be a costly hit and potentially not worth it financially considering the Network hasn’t had as much financial success anywhere in the world as originally hoped.

Specifically, the new deal between WWE and BSkyB mandates all WWE PPV events will air on Sky Sports Box Office. Up until this year, 4 pay-per-views would air on Sky Sports at no extra charge for people who have the channel, while the remaining shows were on Sky Box Office at £14.95 per event.

We’re hoping to bring you more information as soon as we get it.

Vinny Mac opening raw. Think he's pissed.

Ffs. There's us not getting it

Don't know what is more surprising, Tyson Kidd getting a win on Raw or Natalya looking a massive wad.

Trips putting over Ziggler there.

It's about time, he's one of the best talents they've had in ages. He's been massively underused. I'm just watching his match now, think I'm around 20 mins behind the live show.

Sadly I think he'll just be used to be the one pinned, be canny if he turned heel i think he'd be good in the authority.

Luke Harper is very soon to get a massive singles push as a big heel - The promo was Bray Wyatt-esque which means he'll probably intervene when a face is about to win.

Confused what they're doing with Erick Rowan however. He's that kid in school who gets picked last when you play football.

BIG watershed moment for me. The first ever full episode of RAW. AND only less than 24hrs after it finished which really makes it significant. Watching it on XMBC so I have about 4 parts I have to see. I have seen Part 1 which is the first 45mins or so and I am massively impressed by what I saw. I like the look of the Uso's. I think they look like a top team well over with the fans. Very surprised by the appearance of Vince to give a massive bombshell on The Authority. Good to see Dolf Zigler getting in on the Cena v Authority feud. Getting in his head. Could we see a Zigler heel turn at Survivor Series? I liked the match between one of the Uso's and The Miz. Well worked. Bemused at the point of Damien Mizdow. Why he has to copy everything. Also the Tyson Kidd v Sheamus match was good also. I have only ever really seen Kidd on WWE Superstars. To see him with a main event superstar who has picked up The Big Show was a surprise.

Can't wait for Part 2.

It's not real marra.

That's true. It'll end up costing then stacks of money.

Wwe network are giving survivor series for free to new customers too and that'll be one of sky's bigger draws.

Definitely! They'll not launch it until after SS IMO, if this year at all actually.
