That's open to interpretation I suppose.
Whey to me, in October, it's a fuckin' daft thing to be even ask him. Of course nothing can be done at present about the personnel. Yes he can take responsibility for the team he picks, and he says as much, but he doesn't want to make excuses or take responsibility based on the fact that the squads thin. Fair enough.
Just listened to him on here...

"You need to ask them (the players), I'm not going to answer for them." Made is laugh.
Assuming Reveillere signs we will have exactly the number of defenders that Gus stated he wanted from the outset. I doubt it will prevent him from playing this card in future, though. He could have used the development squad too. It was the perfect opportunity to develop a young player. Instead he brought on Bridcutt. That's an example of one reason why England fails to develop players.
From everything I've heard in Gus' comments during his time here I suspect that he's an absolute nightmare for Congerton. Hopefully the hierachy at the club just turn on their 'fiery latin' filter and ignore Gus' outbursts. I'd hate for his git big pie hole to talk him out of the job as he can do very well here if he learns to button it.
Trying to make sense of it, I think Gus did button it. He could have easily made more of the fact we didn't have enough defensive cover on the day.
What he definitely did not say was "I didn't buy the players so it's not my fault", which is what the OP was suggesting. He does take responsibility for picking them and motivating them. He works with what he's got.
