We need someone in to actually manage the team, not just to disconnect himself from any responsibility.

Team selection, tactics and simply motivating the team was just non existent yesterday.

Absolute shite. How could the team selection be non-existent?
"Here's today's Sunderland team...ooh it's non-existent! Nobody's playing"

no, result was an absolute aberration, we didnt play that badly in spells imo but defensively we were shocking and Southampton just took opportunities presented to them on a f***ing plate, To call for a manager to be sacked after 1 abysmal result is f***ing cringeworthy and anyone even thinking it should do themselves and our fans a favour and take a walk into the ocean.

Utter shite.

Bedwetting clunge.

Knee-jerk nonsense.

I'll bookmark all of these for the end of the season.

Arsenal, yes Arsenal, got beat 8-2 at Old Trafford not too long ago, and what a calamity that was for them

It happens from time to time. Chill the fuck out.
Knee jerk nonsense ? 1 win in 8? It's a fact man.

1 win in 8.
Stayed up last season due to a miracle by the managers own admission.
Terrible summer spending spree.
And now one of the most embarrassing performances in the club's history.

The SMB phenomenon where half the board become fundamentalist about a manager just before the end of his reign rears its head again...

I don't know why but I'm surprised at the reaction of some of the fans on this forum.

I remember a few seasons ago we battered Blackpool, I think we had 33 shots at their goal, they had 2 at ours, and their keeper had the game of his life. They won 0-2. I remember walking away from the ground thinking that football can be, at times, a ridiculous game. That's exactly the same as I feel about yesterday. It was a an anomaly.

Very few of them have been winnable in the top flight in the time I've watched SAFC. We've by and large been utterly out of our depth in this division for years/decades now.
That is just total bollocks marra.

I remember a few on here slagged the team and said Blackpool were worthy winners then n'arl.

Up until yesterday teatime there was nee fucker questioning Poyets position.

Not quite true, there were one or two idiots. The same cretins who think we'd be better off if PDC was still in charge.

I think he will be gone this season, Short hoping for a 3rd miracle as we most probably be down there. It won't make much difference though if we carry on as we have, its a matter of when not if we get relegated.

thats my logic on it too, been doing a steady job compared to some of the dross we have seen but yesterday was an aberration of a result, even the Southampton fans i was talking to thought it was, however i think the moronic element of our support will use yesterdays result as a stick to beat Poyet with, much the same as the Wigan result was for Bruce but this being on a smaller scale with the amount of games we have played.

you can use statistics to prove any point, 1 win in 8, but another way to look at it is we have lost 2 in 8 games and have generally been playing with a style of football which our fans have been crying out for for years now the onus is on Poyets failings for refusing to change his style of play because a few deem us shit in that style of play, Managers in general are on a f***ing hiding to nothing, nowhere is that more prevelant than on here

The big difference with the Blackpool game is how I felt afterwards. I was there and I was disappointed but not downhearted. After yesterday's performance, missing all the elements required to be successful - running, closing the opposition down, playing as a team, doubling up on attackers, having heart, showing grit and determination, not hiding - I feel completely the opposite. It's embarrasing and shameful as a team and a club.

I'm afraid its not. We've been relegated 7 times since 1976/77 - 6 of those from the top flight - and our league positions in the top flight recently tell their own tale:

2007/08 = 15th
2008/09 = 16th
2009/10 = 13th
2010/11 = 10th
2011/12 = 13th
2012/13 = 17th
2013/14 = 14th

We have had the win/loss ratio to go with that decidedly middling record and TBF its inexcusable. The club seems no nearer to establishing themselves in say the top 10, which should be a pre requisite for a club with our resources, and IMHO it points to a clueless club run by clueless administrators. We clearly have absolutely no idea how to go about building firm foundations and as an example quite how and why Ged McNamee has been able to stay at the club as long, in the same position, without producing virtually anything of note for the first team is a very moot point.

2 players of note in the last 15 years who have gone on to do anything in the top flight? We're simply not really geared up very well for the top flight and its fotunate for us that there are some crap clubs foating about in it season after season. Its a game of Russian Roulette that we play every seaosn and sooner rather than later we are bound to shoot ourselves - unless we change the way the club thinks about things.

No. Let's try something revolutionary and move players on rather than managers.

I think he will. Be a struggle but will keep us up and that's all short wants tbh. Might go around next Xmas like.

Without any decent investment we will continuously struggle.

I've thought for a while now that Short is getting the books in order and gearing up to sell us, doubt we'll see us investing anytime soon. We'll probably stop up but it's going to be another long, depressing season hovering around the relegation zone.
