Any particular player that you cant help but have a look to see what they have done when you are going through the local scores in one of the papers?

Ian Conn seems to have been playing first team cricket to a excellent standard for 25 years plus, every time I check he seems to be getting 4-5 wickets a match. At a guess must have 2k or thereabouts wickets whilst playing for Burnmoor:eek:

John Pendlington (Horden and South Hetton) was another who done it as a good standard for years and years

Various leagues and relative abilities but all long serving cricketers

Can't think of many more long serving north east cricketers than Gary Purcell (Eppleton) or Keith Chapman (Murton), both been around for years must be in their fifties now but both have played first time cricket seems like forever.

Purcell started at Horden than played for years at Mainsforth then now Eppleton.

Where think Chapman has mainly been a one club man

Keith Chapman. Very quick in the 80s and early 90s. Murton of course.

Calvin Stephenson and Stephen Ball. Both great players at Murton too.
Remember my youngest keeping Calvin Stephenson out for about 10 overs as last man when he was about 13. Memory fails me now who was his bowling partner also a big fish in the coast league ?

Purcell was my PE teacher at school. Must be well into his 60s by now I reckon.
