I think it is a genuine condition but some people just are too quick to assume they are depressed

atos do not recognise depression, stress or anxiety as illnesses that qualify for sickness benefit. the equate to zero points in the opinion of the dss

I have gone, totally gone

Are you ok, mate?

Right, worried about you. I know that you were on this thread 39 minutes ago. I'm going to send you a pm with a number. They can help as they listen well. Trust me.

Your pm box is full. If you are feeling bad call this number 08457909090. They will listen to whatever you want to talk about. They are really good. I ain't going to bed now until you say that you are OK.

You are absolutely 100% on the money with the way you sum it up here mate. I've seen literally hundreds of people who sit in front of me and say they're "depressed". As soon as I set eyes on someone I can tell if they're "depressed" or just a bit sad or down on their luck making them feel bad. A depressed person in nearly all circumstances isn't well turned out with clean clothes, a bloke who is clean shaven or a woman with make up on with nice hair to make herself look presentable. They don't crack a joke they don't talk in an upbeat manner about how they've done this and that. Life is hard and we all have good days and bad days but to many these days that equates to bi polar or mood swings rather than just accepting that that the rhythm of life isn't always constant and is and will always be changing.

Robin Williams was smartly dressed, well groomed whenever seen, plus cracked jokes all time, most would say he was upbeat. Guess you would have turned him away as faking it.

Did you see him in his last few weeks of life like? When was the last time you saw him before his death out of interest?

It doesn't help when continual cuts make the waits for talking therapies so long. If you were the GP and you had 10 minutes before the next patient, what would you do?

That's a bloody good point you make and from what I've heard its gonna get a whole lot worse

Of course it will, it must be up there with the most common reasons people go to the doctors.
That's the first thing most say to anyone on here who mention the word.

I've never met you mate but by all accounts you are a smashing lad (according to people on here).

I'm free for a pint any time - I'm a Fullwell lad anarl... see what I did there....
I have met him and he is a good lad, hope everything works out.

If people were a bit more educated about depression and I mean just cos you feel shit as a reaction to a situation which is natural and this will pass in time rather than thinking they're ill and going to their GP at a drop of a hat then things would be better for those with a more pressing need to be seen.
