Everton Fans Thoughts on Rodwell

I keep seeing this box-to-box thing then check the stats and realise he doesn't score goals so I wonder what he actually offers in the final third? We've got enough midfielders that are happy to break things up in defensive third & can run through brick walls.

Maybe he just runs from one box to the other. A bit like the coast to coast but he dips his feet in some lucozade.

There's always an element of risk with any signing. No doubt people are getting their ground work in now for the big "I told you so" later. I can certainly see a lot if potential there and the reasons we'd be going for him. We've been there before where great signings on paper haven't materialised on the field but no one can know either way at this stage. Just relax and give the lad a chance to show us what he can do.

Means he likes to fuck about ;)

To be fair Aaron Ramsey was always box to box however didn't get the goals and struggled to reach his potential.

Then all of a sudden he got abit of confidence, had the team playing through him and has transformed into one of the best players in the premier league.

Rodwell has the talent it's up to him what he does with it providing he stays injury free.

Where in this thread have I suggested they or anyone for that fact have said he was a "crap player". I said they don't seem to rate him which based on the majority of their posts they don't.

No need to attack me ffs.

Beckenbauer?! Ha'way man

So you've posted it because?

The main theme of the thread is he is injury prone, like everyone who watches football knows. I don't see why you would post a thread like this, the comments don't pick up on any real major alarm bells to do with his playing ability.

i must have missed all the times when our centre mid's would pick the ball up and run at the opposition.

I suppose Rodwell will replace Ki. Is he a better player?

Cattermole did it every game mate.

Aye but if he was free he'd be written off as shite by default.

Good point.

I've posted it to encourage debate. If you don't like it, move on. You're not adding anything interesting to the thread anyhow.

Different type of player I'd have thought.

Ki is very gifted technically... but Rodwell has a lot more grit about him.

Maybe but he'll be adopting a similar position imo.

Cattermole will surely sit deep. Then again Cattermole was inclined to push further forward last season at times. So much so he actually ended up scoring and came very close to scoring on a number of occasions. I still think we need a tricky, creative type.

Does it matter what Everton fans think? They're miles better than us and almost qualified for the Champions League last season.

I don't even know why you come on here, the club are about to make a positive move in the transfer market and you're just spreading negativity. There aren't many better options around who fit the British players Congerton and Poyet want.

Jordan Mutch is going to QPR and he was wank in a vital 6 pointer up here.

Top box-to-box players should have their fair share of chances to score imo. In fairness to Rodwell, I've no idea how his 'assists' stats stand up and he may create a tonne of chances per game but we cannot be going into another season hoping 7 goals from Johnson, 7 goals from Giaccherini and 9-11 goals from our striker will be enough for anything more than 16-18th place.
