Borini

Poyet sounds confident, and to be fair both the local press in Sunderland and Liverpool seem to be implying that him going away with Liverpool is no big deal

The only people who are making a big deal out of it are the idiots on here. Can't see why anyone would really expect Borini to sit down for every last minute of negotiation with the club. Just doesn't happen.

He didn't, he signed for west ham in June way before pre season. Think he was in holiday in America though!
Exactly people are just making shit up now, it's both unusual when a fee has been agreed for the player to play a meaningless game hours later then fly out on preseason, it shows we could be fars apart yet or he straight up is waiting to see if anyone else comes in.

This. To be honest, I've only ever noticed players going to discuss terms on deadline day. Usually you hear of player heading to the club for a medical and to sign etc. I've never heard of a player spending a week in Sunderland as negotiations go on.

Probably but that in itself is strange. If they think he is signing for us they have nothing to gain and £14m to lose by playing him.

Liverpool might be quite happy to keep him. Or they might want to give off the impression that they are. In reality, they are probably desperate to get the money, given their spending, but then nobody gains much from looking desperate.

If they were that desperate they wouldn't play him, accepting a bid is a pretty good sign they want the money!

Liverpool don't want him

Nobody else is going to match our bid (well its very doubtful)

I doubt he would choose sitting in the reserves over coming back here

Really? Usually as soon as a fee is agreed the player leaves the training camp they are in to join the one with the club who made the bid. It's happened a few times in the last week.

You wouldn't expect them too as surely they've got better things to be getting on with than sitting in an office for hours going over numbers and what bonus they'll get etc. That's why they all hire agents to do that for them with both understanding what they want to gain.

Mind its quite funny watching people spitting their dummy out over random twitter posts and trying to read between the lines of nothing

Every player has a price, we've met that price. Maybe they aren't bothered whether he leaves or not, so while it is being discussed they carry on with pre-season as planned. Maybe Borini is waiting to see if anyone else comes in - can't blame him for that. Maybe his agent is up here now finalising it all subject to medical in which case liverpool won't play him

Nobody knows whats happening, just let it happen. We'll soon know soon enough

It's not in any way unprofessional to go and discuss terms with a club who have agreed a fee. It's what just about every player does. Liverpool have 2/3 doing it now.
But why does he HAVE to be there? The lad has always said he wants to play football, so why take himself out of playing and getting fit to discuss a deal when his agent can sort it all?

Paul Scholes never went to negotiations, he'd always send the PFA in and tell them to just accept any offer. Borini of course isn't Scholes and probably wants some assurances and to get the best deal for himself, but why should he stay in the country to do that? There is such thing as the internet and mobile communication that deals do get done by. I have a feeling the ONLY reason he's gone is because Liverpool play Roma first and Borini wants to play against them as his send off, he seems to be a bit of a sentimental type! In fact he still hasn't changed his twitter picture or description saying he's a SAFC player. If he wanted to get rid of the SAFC connection that would be long gone.

It happens in all kinds of different ways though. Players get linked for weeks before everything goes through - Lallana as an example. He had been in talks with Liverpool weeks before the bid was accepted because Southampton gave him permission so as soon as the final bid was accepted all he had to do was sign.

That's my take on it Liverpool accept an offer they feel is too good to turn down. Tell him it's up to him what he does and he is at least assessing his options.

Hopefully it is sorted sooner rather than later for our sake.
