Maybe ask to be playing up top and not left wing...
Hopefully not. We need him out wide as we literally have fuck all else.

And bar the cup final he never really excelled through the middle at all. We simply didn't give the supply, all defences had to do was sit deep and he couldn't run in behind.

It's not up to him if he flies or not, until terms are agreed he does what BR tells him to! He will want his loyalty payment from LFC so he gets on the plane!!
I agree but surely Rodgers would give him permission to speak to us.

Not saying it's where i'd want him but be a good option to offer pace up top but we need his work rate on the left wing, tbh we just need bodies to fill the team

Is there some kind of rule that a player has to be in Sunderland to negotiate and sign, like?? Pretty sure we signed Cana while in Amsterdam, didn't we? If you're willing to invest 14m in someone, are a couple airfares to NYC, or wherever, and hotel out of the question? There's also the famous SAFC fax machine if we need something signed...

If he does come, it looks like he's gonna be forced into it. Not sure if I want him here if that's the case.
This worries me a little bit. He had a lot to play well for last season but if he joins us then he may lose his motivation. Don't think he will though as he seems to have a professional attitude

He'll sign, he looks well pissed off in the photos and at the match yesterday, once his agent and SAFC have discussed terms and agreed, then it's only a matter of pen to paper.

He would have to come back for a medical, so nowt would be signed by fax.

It's not a big deal, just means nothing is imminent.

His agent just says what he likes to engineer his client a better deal. Last summer he said he should never have signed for Liverpool.

Puer speculation on my part but reading between the lines I think he doesnt want to leave Liverpool and if he does he would prefer it to be to a bigger and better club than us

What would be a bigger premier league option for him, can't see the likes of Everton, spurs or teams of that stature after him, maybe he fancies a move back to Italy.

This. It's not like he needs to have a look around the place before signing. He will have told his agent what he finds acceptable and once his agent has got that he'll be back over straight away like you said. There's nothing to see here
