I love the lad to bits, he's a good player and scored some memorable goals (Mags home, mags away, Wembley)

But haway, breaking our record fee when he only scored 5 or 6 league goals last season from open play is ridiculous.

We'd be better off spending the money on 2 defenders or a defender and a midfielder.

Right signing, wrong price.

He didn't get into the side till 8 weeks into the season at least. It's not just about goals it's everything else he brings into the team.
Brilliant team player well worth the fee.
If we need to pay the £14m with the add ons because of goals and performance then he's f***ing worth it.

Played out wide for much of last season, after he was eventually picked of course.

The guy knows where the goal is from inside and outside the box, is quick, and has balls of steel - anyone worrying about the fee, which is OK by the way, neednt worry. He will deliver the goods and hopefully we will get at least a couple of years out of him before the CL clubs come in for him and pay impossible to turn down money.

Follow this up with getting the two on loan defenders back, sorting a new deal out for Wickham and then we can add a few new players, possibly on loan, in key positions (CB, CM) toward the end of the window.

I'd be happy enough with that.

Rising to 14m it's steep but considering 11m gets you a championship plodder, kind of puts it in to perspective. I m pleased to have him back, and it's great to actually sign one of our most successful loan deals. He's Scored some important goals, great penalty taker, would run through brick walls, is a great professional, can play a couple of positions. Top signing IMO. Now go get Alonso and Vergini sorted out

both please  asap !

Would be our strongest most effective window in a long long time

He was excellent in some games last season (Both Mags games, Wembley, Man United home, Swansea etc)

But there was also a lot of time he went missing and didn't quite have a good game.

I'd much rather we signed two players for £14m than one Borini, sorry I just think we're spending it unwisely.

That's the way the market is this year, Hull paid £8m for Snodgrass and McCormack went for £11m. Fabio is already proven at this level and young enough to improve, good business imo.
