He's a decent enough striker and has a habit of scoring against us. 14m is a lot of money though for a 7-8 goal a season striker
Would think its a huge chunk of your budget too where other areas of the pitch needs serious addressing.
Looks like you will utilise the loan system again to pad out and just repeat the circle

Fuck me, the mags make a handful of signings and feel it justifies them to start patronising folk

With all due respect mate, you don't have a clue what we will do in transfer market or what our financial situation is.

When both the local journos from Liverpool and Sunderland are reporting it then you can be fairly confident its right

IF it's been accepted as seems to be gathering momentum then I think we're likely to get the deal done. If he didn't want to come we'd already know, if he wanted too much cash we'd already know, there's not a lot of teams likely to match such a big offer having never seen him first hand like we have.

It's not just his undoubted ability and knack of scoring crucial goals that makes him worth the fee. There's also the fact he seems to genuinely like it here, already spent a season with the rest of the team and is absolutely 100% committed to being a success. Would represent a major boost to our summer recruitment drive/enthusiasm levels too.

Agreed, he's a good player and he will improve Sunderland no doubt (who's great at penalties) but for that price you'd want a guaranteed 10-15 goals per season or a special talent who can do something out of nothing.

I then it's quite similar to our Livermore deal where the selling club know you desperately want him but don't have to sell.
