LVCC Durham v Warwickshire

I thought when colly came back he would take the piss out of county attacks @ bat 3 or 4, such was his quality at international level.

God how wrong was I. He has a fair bit of battle left in him but in terms of making good scores, he's very poor in the four day format.
Batting record for England is excellent and well done to him for that. Batting record for Durham in championship cricket before and after his England time is poor.

Richardson & Muchall have been largely crap for the last month. And i was hugely hopeful for Richardson at the start of the season. Looked a great prospect but has faded awfully.

Stoneman for england someone said on here last week, good lord. He should be a million miles off.

Richardson is one of our top scorers in the LVCC and hit 96 last week and hit 30ish today.

You never ever seem to know what you will get with DCCCs batting & thats been the story for 10+ years imo

Load of shit

Enjoying the game?

Good craic as always, just not our day and got to applaud the opposition for performing better. Not often we get beat at home is it?

I bet even the fan boy is booing now

Some of the 200 year old idiots in the members lounge were heckling the players which is uncalled for.

Not sure what he does, makes sure Collys felt tips dont run out? Authorises the players expense forms?

One thing he did do was chase Benkenstein out the club

Well that was my second visit of the season to watch Durham and that was a horror show, had to leave just before tea when Jennings and Richardson where doing ok. Durham looked like the side they where in about 2001. Only Borthwick batted with any authority in the first innings, Hastings stuck in and played a few shots. Colly looked like a walking wicket before he even got to the crease (top earner at the club and 2 championship hundreds in 4 seasons). Mustard fell for the 3 card trick two short balls then flung his bat at a full one a foot outside off stump.

As far as Muchall goes he should have been peddled a few seasons ago but there are a few current players at Durham who's actual runs scored and averages are not much better than his over the years.

Colly looked petrified both times today which is concerning. Borthwick and Hastings got stuck in during the 1st innings. Onion doesn't look fit and it's time to ditch Muchall.

Fair enough people are critical of the coaching/players but how the fuck has the words "David Harker" not been mentioned? He's a disaster that bloke

30ish eh...

Going into this round of games, Richardson was our 2nd highest scorer of the season, but he may now be 3rd to Borthwick by a few runs. His average going into this game was 39.57. 2x 100s and 4s 50s is a good record. You're jumping on the bandwagon because the lad has had a difficult time recently, overall his record is good

Can't really say I've noticed much criticism aimed towards David Harker mind.

it's a good job Nott's beat Lanc's from champs to relegation battlers again.
Battling rear guard action at Headingly but this game in both bowling and batting has been abject .
To go from 75 for 2 at tea to 113 all out is a collapse only matched by the collapse of the walls of Jericho caused by the sound of horns.

Grim reading -
You're right it does paint a poor picture, but that's not the half of it. The team were bowled out twice in a day and only a couple of players made a fist of it. Hastings in the first innings dug in and played some good cricket and Scotty was going really well until a speedy daisy cutter took him unawares. Once the follow on was enforced the players at best were cavalier at worst totally irresponsible. Two wickets down with less than ten runs on the board when needing to bat out four and a half sessions set the scene.

An excellent stand by Jennings and Richardsonfollowed, but once broken saw three wickets fall for no further runs. Then Colly and the Colonel came to the crease and the expectation was for both of them to dig in. Instead after a partnership of just five, both were back in the pavilion. There was absolutely no passion, pride or common sense being displayed. Hastings and Rushworth soon joined the hapless souls in the pavilion with the score on 91 and only one wicket left.

To say the crowd were disappointed is an understatement, but the worry is that Durham CCC have been totally outplayed in two games having previously won two games with relative ease. A team doesn't become bad over night, but there is something seriously wrong in the camp at the minute and with important games coming up it needs to be sorted out pdq. Colly's captaincy will certainly come under the microscope - the Mags at the game were already bemoaning his decision to put Warwicks into bat on a pretty flat pitch, seemingly based on the weather conditions at the start of play rather than the weather forecast. However, Warwickshire proved that it was a good batting wicket, which only a couple of our players managed to prove. We also made Patel look like an unplayable spinner, which he isn't. Very, very disappointing ....

Why is it uncalled for btw? You werent watching club cricket you know? Far be it from the scenes you get in football but people are entitled to call them shit when they have been THAT dreadful?

This.

Those 200 year old idiots have probably been going from day 1 of our First Class life and probably through the Minor Counties years too. They've no doubt spent a lot of time and money following the lads for decades (using Muchallsbumboy's logic that makes them better fans than him). The thing is, the players are professional sportsmen and they get paid to give 100% all of the time. Did they do that today?? Will they think they did when they go home and analyse their performance?

I'm not for one minute suggesting they just threw the towel in but the members have a right to be disgruntled because we lost EIGHT wickets in 10.3 overs. After Tea the batsmen were an embarrassment. The whole day was an embarrassment really, but after Tea took the f***ing piss. You would forgive people for feeling the players just threw one in and fancied a day off. At Tea, we were in a tough position - but we've been in similar positions a few times this season and have usually came out of it with a gritty draw. The very least I expected was some heart.

Short memories some people

Why so? We've had great success. Beyond our wildest dreams perhaps, but you've got to want more and more and more. If you don't move forward you get left behind. Liverpool fans were probably saying things like 'short memories' after their last title win, look at them now. Not won a title in over two decades.

Jennings demonstrated a bit of passion - once he'd got back to the dressing room. He was obviously upset by his poor shot which sent him back to the pavilion. Once inside there was a very noisy expletive heard coming from the dressing room, followed by an extremely loud crunch as I presume the locker door felt the full force of his frustration via his willow blade!

It was a shame that the batsmen who replaced him didn't learn from this and fully apply themselves.

As for the 200 year old supporters - a couple of them were pretty vocal in their disgust, but as they were Mags and are always pretty vocal it's very easy to ignore them. One of them ended up having emergency medical treatment - whether this was brought on by the performance he had witnessed is debatable .....

I was in the members lounge today, sitting right by the newcastle lot, hope that bloke's alright by the way. They were't giving them any stick, infact even when Jennings and Richardson were in they were still hoping for the draw, canny blokes to be fair.

The only bother I head was below that, fans sitting near where the players come out. Stoneman had a right pop at one of them.

It was poor today like, don't like to see any dissent at cricket I must admit

Haha! I was sitting close to them yesterday and they were quite vociferous in their criticism of Collingwood - loads of "What can you expect from a (insert expletive) Mackem". But, once 'Colin's' had a couple of drinks he gets very loud and was having a go at most of the fielders. That said today, they weren't so bad. As you when Stoneman was coming off two lads sitting below the Members Terrace started clapping and he obviously thought they were taking the pee and gave them a right stare, just as that bloke shouted something out - Stoneman's response appeared to be very controlled, but he certainly gave the dissenter grief . Colly got some grief too, but he just seemed to ignore them but was visibly annoyed with himself.

I'm with you, I'll hold my head in despair, but always clap them off and try to encourage the new batsman coming on.

The old bloke had been out cold but was lucid and had a para medic with him when I passed - he didn't look very well, very ashen skinned. As I walked down the main road to the centre of CLS an ambulance coming from the ground passed me with lights going. I presumed they were taking him to hospital for checks etc. Fingers crossed he's O.K. like ......

Ah I see, I'd of been hating that yesterday like! I heard them mention Colly a few times in joking, so much of been on about what you said yesterday then.
I was actually sitting next to steps in the sun where the players come up the stairs when Stoneman got out, he just said "how many weeks have you been coming?", wasn't best pleased. Aye, was a bad day, very bad, but should be proud of Durham for what they have done, would never see me say out.

Aye, he was diabetic, same as me grandad was, sounds like his blood sugar was too low, usually gets sorted out, so sure he will be OK.

Short memories some people
I know cricket & football are entirely different sports and not for one moment would I want to see cricket fans turn into the knee-jerkers we see on pure football but honestly, what a small time mentality you have. Fans of club are quite entitled to speak their minds - this isnt a DCCC owned forum and we arent talking about club cricketers here - they are paid PROFESSIONALS who should take the rough with the smooth. They have been largely poor most of this season but aye, last season a vastly different squad & management won the CC - fair one.

He's got form for being a bit of a knacker has Mark, had a canny few disciplinaries in his younger days.

Thankfully he has put it all behind him now that he has been earmarked as fulltime captain... Errr apart from that spat today. Errrr, And telling an umpire to f*** off last week when he was given out.

- loads of "What can you expect from a (insert expletive) Mackem".
What a load of wank, DCCC is Sunderland & Wearsides club. F•ck all to do with NUFC or the 1992 brigade that follow them. We have one player in our squad who was born north of the tyne (well, three if you count Mcleod or Main), the rest are all from traditional County Durham heartlands.

If they feel that way they can stop at South Northumberland next week, don't bother heading back south! Bellends!

when Stoneman got out, he just said "how many weeks have you been coming?"
Wanky response from Stoneman. Whoever it was they have probably paid more money for tickets than any of the players ever have so not sure why any of the or @GordonMuchallNo1Fan play the loyalty card.

As if to suggest unless you are a fully fledged member you arent qualified to speak. Personally I was a DCCC member when Mark Stoneman couldnt even spell Cricket!
