So England's footballers are f***ing shite, but hopefully our cricketers aren't so.

On the bright side the cricket team doesn't have any washed up scousers playing for them..... Just a few overseas players .

Prasana Jayawardene is out for them I think with a broken finger. Probably be the same side for us.

I like the look of our team atm. Just wish they could find a front line spinner, even though I like Ali, I feel our team would be more balanced if he was our 2nd spinner.
I agree, it has a nice fresh feel to the side with all the youguns in.

Ali will be a class player for England imo.

I agree. There's defo summat about him, his air of calm, his inner belief that he belongs in the test stage, plus I like his style. That 6 and 4 off herath were class. TBH it could be his beard like.

I just hope we keep the faith in him and give him a good 10 tests, and not drop him if he doesn't get a big one soon.

His nickname at Worcestershire is The Beard That Is Feared . Their are other decent batsmen in there too Ballance and Root are another two, havent seen enough of Robson to make a judgement to be fair and was glad that Prior was recalled as he still has a lot to offer imo.

Hope so too the side needs time to settle.

I think we have a good mix of batters in terms of style and what not. Balance seems gritty, Cook and Root more orthodox, Bell and Ali more flair.

Id give these lads the whole Indian series too like. So that they can gel and start to play for each other. No point chopping and changing for the sake of it.

The only change I might make is Stoke's for Plunkett.

didnt see much of the first test mate with me going away, how did plunkett bowl? like he did before?

Bell is a class player like, seems disappointing every time he gets out

He bowled canny enough on a placid pitch. Well enough to get another chance. I reckon he had the job of the enforcer, bowling short and trying to rough up the batters. His 1st spell was nervous but he started to get in to his rhythm. Got to about 85-88mph. Never really got to his fabled 90mph mind.

I know what you mean about Bell. I've changed my mind about him, used to dislike him at 1st, only ever got runs when on his last chance or when there was no pressure, but he's won me over. I like his stylish classy batting.

England win the toss and field and are unchanged
Alastair Cook (c), Sam Robson, Ian Bell, Gary Ballance, Joe Root, Matt Prior (wk), Moeen Ali, James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Chris Jordan, Liam Plunkett, Chris Woakes.

Jordan is another talent i like the look of.

Plunket has bags of ability just needs to keep improving on what he has done this season.
their is something artistic about watching a stylish batsman like Mark Waugh or Ian Bell.

(Swann, speaking just before the toss was made) "Bat first, 1,000% bat first. As a spinner you have to bowl 30 boring defensive overs in the first innings. England haven't got a spinner really so they have got to bat first."
