LVCC - Somerset v Durham

Hopefully even if the rains stops it'll take ages to dry the ground.

Shame Willey wasn't umpiring. He'd have sent them all home already.

If I'm not mistaken, the rain which is currently over Taunton is being followed by a larger and more menacing looking band of rain.....

That photo by Marty doesn't show many covers. Is that all they've got down there?

According to Tim Wellock's lunchtime report, the rain has eased.

Sun is out now apparently.

However this is the latest snap -

Unfortunately Somerset deserve to win this as they've been the better side for most of the game, but saying that I'd still take a rain affected draw over a defeat.

You've got to feel for Rushy, bowled Compton off a no ball, after once again for the second game running having to shoulder the burden of the seam bowling after both Harrison and Wood have gone down injured. He'll be fancying a drink even more after this one.

From having a glut of talented quicks last year suddenly we seem to have none

Just because it clears up for an hour doesn't mean they will get to play
Inspection at 14:15 providing there is no more rain. Apparently.

bollocks

From Stuart Rayner - Seven minutes before the umpires are due to inspect, and the groundstaff are hauling the tarpaulins back onto the bowler's run-up as rain starts to fall again. Durham will not be disappointed.

:)

Needs to be some more rain.

What's up with umpires these days? There was a time when they'd have looked out of their hotel bedroom window at 7 in the morning and said "Sod that - no point even going to the ground today".

"The umpires and the covers are coming out at the same time. If it is raining, it's only very light."

Surely they'd only come out during rain to abandon it?!

Seriously though, what can they possibly inspect during rain? Other than wetness?!
