Sacking Bruce

Big mistake in hindsight?

I know he's been bitter since and a bit of a kernt,but

We're still playing pretty much a Steve Bruce signings squad.

Best finish for many years.

Brought in some talent for cheap that we then got good money for (sess, bent, gyan, mig, Mcclean)

Had a squad that scored lots of goals when the strikers were in good form, and had some good , albeit overpaid, players in it.

Did we really sack him for a good reason? I know I wanted him out at the end but I honestly can't remember what I had to complain about at the time compared to now!

Results, just check them out of the previous 38 games. All that money all that opportunity and we were in effect a relegation team .

We're still in the Premier League - we wouldn't be if we hadn't sacked Bruce
We're still in the Premier League - we wouldn't be if we hadn't sacked MON
We're still in the Premier League - we wouldn't be if we hadn't sacked PDC

We have a long record of holding onto managers too long - going back much further than these failures.

Decided to spend the Henderson money on a scatter gun approach on average squad filling players (Gardner, Larsson, Vaughan etc)
We needed to replace him with an already established midfielder who was very good on the ball, not someone who just tried and ran around
He also hardly put up a fight to keep Bent here (who is still a kernt for going in the first place after all his 'legend' comments)

Things were looking good with him at one stage, I admit - but his last few transfer deals (especially incomings) were f***ing rank and we are still paying for it

Oh, here we go again, common denominator is your crap support. You really are the worst in the PL, but not for much longer. I've told you before Altidore was a donkey, but you all thought Danny G was worse, you think you're a big club (haha) we're not either but at least no illusions. But now you think Brucey is the problem, really? We have no pedigree and yet somehow....... But he is the problem with you. Don't think so, you're just all a bunch of dreamers that support a crap team. Keep telling you, you're going down and you aren't ever coming back. Bye x

Worth a bump, and removing this twat from ignore, just to see if we can drag him from his cumdump to get a response :lol::lol::lol:

You lot, really? Is your squad that much worse than ours? We will finish 12th/14th and we are in the cup final. The only difference is the manager. Your last season under him was your best for a long time. Ever since you've been a disaster zone. Honestly. I can't f***ing stand Sunderland so I will wind you up forever but seriously, you slag off managers of the calibre of Bruce and O'Neill and you look like even bigger ***** than you usually do. You last finished in a cup final in 73 and have done fuck all since and yet you are a much bigger club than us. But you still slag off people you should be proud to have had. I really mean it, you are going down and never coming back. The vibe at Sunderland is so crap that the Conference is calling you all, laugh all you want but the way you are all behaving you are fucked!

Well. We are currently top of the form table with 13 points from 15, we are above Hull in the table with wins over Chelsea, Man Utd and a creditable draw against Man City. We have also had 11 clean sheets from the 30 games Poyet has had here - one of the highest in the league.

Hull meanwhile have had 4 wins since December and gained just 1 point since the beginning of April. There's also a very real prospect that you'll finish 17th and 1 point above the relegation zone.

He deserved to be sacked due to the fact that he was openly touting our young England international to his old club and Ex boss at Man Utd during his spell in charge.

I would have been doing everything i could to keep my best players if I was manager- even if he was likely as in Hendersons case to attract a sizeable transfer fee.

You reckon we should have sacked Bruce after the end of the 2011 season then? Doesn't make much sense to me.

We managed to survive the slow death of his summer 2011 business which up to four weeks ago looked like it would finally kill us off.

Finally Wickham repaid some of that ridiculous fee.

That's a miracle in its own right.

There were plenty of people, including me, who wanted him gone at the end of that season. We went into freefall that season once we sold Bent and there were plenty of signs that Bruce was starting to lose the plot.

I'll be surprised if this slug appears again, a true world champion in bellendary.

Going down and never coming back, new sig material

Sunderland:
6 league titles
2 FA Cup wins
2 Charity/Community Shield wins
1 Football World Championship
5 League runners up
2 FA Cup runners up
2 League cup runners up
5 Championship titles
2 Championship runners up

Hull:
1 FA Cup final (probably runners up)
1 Championship runners up
1 Championship play-off win

Sunderland vs Hull - head to heads
Sunderland - 15 wins
Hull - 13 wins
draws - 4

Stadium capacity:

Sunderland 48,000
Hull 26,000

Top Flight appearences:

Sunderland - roughly half of our rich history has been spent in the highest division of the country - our current spell is longer than your entire history in the top flight
Hull - 3 seasons in the total of their poxy small time history

One of the problems with Bruce is he still sees himself as an ex Manure player who had some success, rather than a manager of another club. He completely fawns over them and it pisses everyone off.

The fact that he's so complacent also makes him a poor manager, wouldn't surprise me if he gets the boot from Hull after the first 10 games or so of next season after a trademark slump in form

no, I'm just saying that we would not be in the Premier League IMO if we had kept them. We gave Bruce a fair crack of the whip - I'd have maybe gone 2/3 games earlier that's all, but generally we have waited too long and been more than fair - MOn - McCarthy - Reid - all should have gone quite a while before they did.
