It will be interesting to see what the side is to play the MCC, and who replaces Stokes and Colly at no 5 and 6 in the order. Iam not sure if they will blood a couple of youngster or place safe and bring back Muchall and Breese. It maybe an indication of which way they will go this season.

I'd guess at

Rocky, Jennings, Borthwick, Richardson, Muchall, Mustard, Breese, Arshad, Wood, Rushworth, Onions

hopefully one of poynter, clark, mcLeod are good enough to take over from muchall at some stage and likewise pringle or coughlin from breese over the course of the season.

That batting line up is amongst the worst in the league. Need another two in otherwise it's going to be difficult to put any runs on the board.

The way stokes is playing he might not get a central contract which would effectively screw us.

he is 100% guaranteed one, with swann gone they need to be more flexible in test side, and stokes allows them that

I wonder how many journos write us off this year.

If we don't get in a decent batsman or two, they might be right this time.

Why? Same team as last year minus Stokes and he didn't score a hatful[DOUBLEPOST=1394737706][/DOUBLEPOST]Don't need to score a ton of runs at the Riverside you you

Think a few of you are forgetting Colly is to come back into that squad....... Well, provided he doesn't get offered a Test role with England.

I'm not suggesting he'll score 1,000 runs, but he'll definitely offer grit and fight. Which could be invaluable to the young'uns that are coming in.

Get this every year on here, will be reet.

Scotty may lose a few to Lions games. No Benks or Smith now either.

So short of numbers especially batsmen, personally i would not mind Mustard being moved up the order and bat at no 4 or no 5 and given more responsibility. I know they like him batting at no 7 and helping the tail but i think he would be a better bet to get 1000 championship than most at the club, especially if Colly stays at no 6.

Possibility but I think they may give Muchall a chance at 5.

I think people are forgetting Richardson and Jennings showed they could score big towards the end of last year. Big ask for them 2 but not out of the question.

Stoneman and Borthwick must make 1000 runs apiece for me. Muchall, Colly and the rest will chip in but these 2 have to kick on IMO for us to go well.

Stokes is still a huge miss for me though. His bowling came on massively last year, and without him in the middle order Mustard really needs to get his head screwed on.

I worry a bit about Jennings and Richardson. Capable of decent scores but really lack consistency for me.

Any decent articles kicking about regarding previews yet??

Found this on the Torygraph website - - hardly a 'preview' as such, but interesting nonetheless.

A question for you all though - in the (highly unlikely) event that Durham don't retain the title, who would you rather see win it?

Happy New Season lads :D. Even if we have to wait another week to get going.

Quite amazed at the lack of build up on tv and radio mind. Kevin Howells hosted two excellent lunch break long shows last year on the Championship. This year, nowt.[DOUBLEPOST=1396783876][/DOUBLEPOST]Good start with the ball for Lancashire and Glamorgan. Me owld marra Jimmy Allenby with two key wickets.

Notts 43-3 v Lancs - two wickets for Anderson.
Sussex v Middx 18-1
Surrey 34-4 v Glamorgan
