How do you know Borini was going to get injured at Hull then? Perhaps he may have scored twice in the first half then got substituted.
How do you know Altidore won't score against Palace?
Edit: Just noticed you potentially Arsenal bit. We didn't get Arsenal. f***ing hell, do you deal with anything here and now?

Brilliant, then we can go into games against our relegation rivals and the top four-six teams in the final stretch with the proven goalscorer Altidore and the match-fit Scocco and Fletcher(!)
Oh wait.. he did play Borini when it was 0-0 with 25+ mins to go

Shit, I forgot we have Messi alongside the excellent Altidore, Fletcher and Scocco to fallback on should Borini be unavailable.
If you can assure me that our ONLY current CF goalscorer will continue to score and stay fit?
I NEVER said Borini would get injured at Hull, what I did say is that Poyet needs to get Fletcher and Scocco match-fit asap. Given the importance of beating those teams like Palace and Norwich he is going to use his proven goalscorers. While he may bring on Fletcher and Scocco if we are battering both Palace and Norwich, it made perfect sense for Poyet to give them the 60-65 mins against a shite Hull with a strong as fuck bench to call on if we still needed goals. That is what happened, that is how it played out, that is until O'shea and Cattermole decided to leave their ability in the dressing room.
Given Altidore's record and the gametime he has been given, we cannot risk HAVING to rely on him. We need a match fit Fletcher who has previous experience and a newbie to the league who likewise needs game time. It would be "remiss" of the manager to do anything other than plan ahead in this regard.
Why get the others match fit if you want Borini to play in their place?
We need the others fit because no one in their right mind would approach the premier league with one match fit, scoring CF.
Let's try this exercise, you have one CF that is fit AND scoring, you have another Altidore that is fit and basically never scores. You have another experienced CF that has just come off an injury, is not match fit and has has a drought prior to being sidelined through injury. You have one more available, prolific in S.America but new to this league and not match fit.
Explain how you would approach each game and who you would start CF wise, how you would incorporate these CF's and account for the very REAL possibility that footballers get injured for long periods of time. We have the below games to ensure prem survival.
Crystal Palace
Norwich City
Liverpool
West Ham United
Tottenham Hotspur
Everton
Chelsea
Cardiff City
Manchester United
Swansea City
Play the best team you can every single game, there is no benefit in losing.
Haway man. We're all buzzing and confident for the Palace game cos none of us wanted another Wembley appearance and Europe. Thickheed.Play the best team you can every single game, there is no benefit in losing.
Ladies and gentleman of the jury I rest my case. ^^ Hasn't got a f***ing clue.

The players will be full of confidence coming off a humiliating defeat too.Dear me, what a clueless twat. If, if, if... deal with what did f***ing happen, not what might.[DOUBLEPOST=1394535864][/DOUBLEPOST]
Great point, I was buzzing after losing.
Can I chuck a bit of menace in here....the OP and Keswick are both exiles, they share the same view.

In other words prioritize.Perfectly executed in the fact it was 0-0, Scocco and Fletcher had 60-65 mins under their belt and we had Borini and Johnson on as impact subs.
Reckless abandon is not including Scocco and Fletcher. Going into Norwich, Palace with them still not having anything under their belt, (which they likely won't unless we are hammering them) and hoping Johnson and Borini stay fit for the rest of the season in what are some of the hardest games in Arsenal, Man City etc. If they don't we currently have Altidore to rely on - or not as the case may be.

The midfield wasn't doing enough and we weren't playing our best central midfielder. The one who has made the others look almost passable at times. The midfield was doing enough, it was the addition of Borini and Johnson that would have made the difference. Cattermole, Larsson, Colback, Johnson and Borini have played a lot together and would have combined better than the two still searching for fitness.
We just couldn't plan for two of our best players to let us down in such quick succession.

Absolutely. And the players who didn't play at Hull don't like regualr games and playing with the same team.
Remember Gray and Johnstone, Makin and Summerbee, Quinn and Phillips....hated playing together to from relationships.
In other words prioritize.
Cups have been devalued by the clubs but judging by the reaction by us and the likes of Southampton, not by the fans.
Put your best team out to win each match and most fans will accept the consequences. All Poyet has done is increase the pressure for the Palace match
What did happen was we were 0-0 with 25+ to go and a fresh Borini and Johnson coming on, what Poyet couldn't plan for was the colossal fuck up that was Cattermole. It hurts, it sucks but it happened.
He also has to deal with the realities of the game and that Prem survival requires a fit and functional squad of players, one person doesn't make the CF position. The manager HAS to deal with what ifs, or is injury of the likes of Johnson and Borini not a possibility, at all - ever?[DOUBLEPOST=1394537722][/DOUBLEPOST]
Humiliating for Cattermole yes, hardly for the team - although a loss is hard for any competitive person to take, a professional however should deal with it.[DOUBLEPOST=1394537804][/DOUBLEPOST]
That assumes Scocco and Fletcher don't want to get fit, play and form partnerships.[DOUBLEPOST=1394538002][/DOUBLEPOST]
Yet if he'd won, given scocco and Fletcher vital gametime he'd have been a tactical genius. Not far off it till Cattermole fucked up.
He can't get carried away by the lure of Wembley. He's trying to build something here, and a huge part of that relies on us being in the top flight.
We can't prioritise everything. He was right to rest key players yesterday, the FA Cup right now is a luxury we cannot afford.
It's too early in Poyet's tenure to chase silverware, but the fact that we're even talking about it - this season of all seasons - should give those laying into him pause for reflection.
We've had the best cup runs in decades. If you let cups be the reason you turn on Poyet, you need to have a word with yourself.
Here's to the real battle.
Did you watch the match? We were atrocious from minute 1
Aye! but we didn't win and he prioritized like you said by giving game time.We were poor up to Catts mistake and if we had won it would have been in spite of fielding a weakened team and not because of it. Not exactly in the realms of tactical genius regardless. Really comes down to whether you think premier league survival is the holy graille forsaking all else."K1W1M4CK3M,
