Forget about the 'headbutt' and the spitting.

He stops play to push an opponent.

Violent conduct. Red.

I can't believe posters are still in any doubt whether it was a red.

You summed it up nicely - it's a justified red by current rules. If it gets recinded then there's something very dodgy going on.

Oh, and Pardew is perhaps the vilest, two faced, slimey little c*nt in football. (Hughes is a close second). I'd love to see him on a charge for appealing the red after he admitted it was justified.

They're bricking it

Tend to agree that Pardew is just trying this out of desperation. The extra game he may incur would be Villa (H) so probably worth taking the chance.

However, the fact there's nine pages of this on a Sunderland forum would suggest that we are also bricking it in case he does get off and their main goalscoring threat is reinstated.

Not sure about bricking it but you hit the nail on the head with those last few words - he is their goalscoring threat.

No, I think there is only 9 pages about this because of what Pardew said about it being a deserved red card, and that he wasn't going to appeal.

Just went to look for examples of appeals being successful or not, look who is involved in the first one (and i dont mean Barton)

I remember that one. Johnson is a right wanker like.

Hope it makes the other players feel rotten. That a decision that at the time they accepted now trying to appeal. Show desperation. Shows a lack of confidence in the other players.
