He's had umpteen chances to prove himself a reliable consistent player who has learned from his mistakes ..... he hasn't learned from his mistakes, at all, he is a constant liability, just look at Southampton, picks up a lazy yellow on the halfway line and his game is fuct, can't play at 100%

Poyets frustration regards Cattermoles lack of awareness at the weekend plus replacing him often recently suggests he is less than impressed.
Basically Catts can't pass, the system dictates that the midfield passes...

I'm not reading through the whole thread, is there a credible source?

I'll summarize. There are no firm sources. We, as a community, have yet to reach consensus on whether it would be in the club's best interest to sell him, but we're working toward it.

If he's being sold purely to bring in the money for us to buy Bridcutt then it's a massively risky move by Gus. Yes, we all know he's got his limitations but he's comfortably in our best two central midfielders and IMO, fills an important role in Poyet's system.

Who knows what Bridcutt will be like at this level. Big risk IMO.

Yes he can pass ffs

He's had some cracking games.
He can't like, all players have some cracking games. Jeff Whitely did FFS.
He is a liability and doesn't fit in the system Gus wants, simple.

Clearly amongst our three best midfielders and we play three midfielders. I would only entertain his sale if Bridcutt and another midfielder were coming in.

Yep. As said, it's madness getting rid of any first-teamers in Jan and when we're 2nd from bottom.

Bit odd, actually. I don't consider Cattermole something to be held onto tightly. But at the same time, he is probably one of our best 11. Strange to hear that he is out before we know anything about a replacement. And as others have said, if the replacement is not up to it....

Colback is probably adequate as a stopgap, but I confess I was hoping for a midfield of Ki, Cattermole, and a new face. Looks more like Ki, new face, and Larsson is the combo we're looking at.

Are we still serious about Scocco? Maybe Ki, Bridcutt, Scocco as a midfield three?

Hard to read this one.

Oh that's okay then.

Ideally, I'd like to keep him. We haven't been very good at replacing any of our other good players we've sold.

Means nothing.

Are you seriously comparing him to Whitley?

Sorry can't take what you say seriously after that. Cattermole has been one of our best players. He has been sent off once this season, hardly a liability! Plus it shouldn't have even been a sending off.

Bridcutt...no premiership experience. It's a massive risk. Yet again.

Scocco is an attacking player... striker/winger. Giaccherini is a lot more likely to play there than him, considering he's played there for Juventus.

No not comparing him at all, he is better then Whitely. Though IMHO he isn't a good player, I've seen him have more crap games than good.
