Altidore

Even though we've barely progressed since we came back up 6 years ago we've had some decent strikers......Jones, Gyan, Bent, Wellbeck, Sess, Bendtner and Fletcher...it's why the poor ones like Jozy, Healy, Fraizer, Chopra and Prica got so much stick.
this yank looks fuckin awful

Was obvious from early in the season that Altidore won't score goals in this league - he simply lacks the intelligence, movement and clinical finishing required. You can moan about the lack of service from midfield all you want but Altidore doesn't make the right runs, doesn't attack the ball from crosses and doesn't find the right spaces in the box. And when the ball does fall for him, he fucks it up. West Ham away prime example - cost us 3 points, Chelsea cup game could have cost us the match if Borini wasn't on hand to stick it in. Today he should have smashed that cut-back in first time, took a touch and the chance was gone. We cannot afford to carry a non-scoring striker - if Fletcher doesn't get his act together we MUST get someone else in in January who can score otherwise we will definitely go down. Altidore is not the man, it's as simple as that.

Spot on.

Just a shame that Fletcher has been similarly awful this season.

"IrishMackem?" Good Lord.

Why are you keep coming on here and attempting to defend a player who is clearly and without a doubt a load of shite?

Why would you even spend all your time gravitating around what is to you the forum of a foreign team with little relevance just because they have one of your players?

There are mitigating circumstances for Fletcher though.......no pre-season means he's not quite match sharp yet.[DOUBLEPOST=1387665325][/DOUBLEPOST]
Biting on Twitter again to the fans slating him.

That's bad like......his head must be well and truly gone now.......best course of action is a parting of the ways imo.

Pre season was in Ibiza mate.

Im not trying to be an apologist for Altidore or Fletcher but until the midfield can move the ball quickly forward goals will always be a problem. Possession is nice but we need to go forward instead of waiting for the opponents 10 players to get behind the ball. The midfield looks afraid to put in,a through ball and too often opts for the easy backward pass.

That's the real point here.

Fletcher has been just as dire this season. Sick of people building him up as the saviour, he has been less than average.

We have 2 average centre forwards with no pressure. I like fletcher, but by his he has been well off this season. We didn't half overpay for him aswell.[DOUBLEPOST=1387665572][/DOUBLEPOST]

How long can we peddle the no pre season?

All the way until may?

I think we've all been patient with Altidore but it's pretty clear he's shite, has the first touch of an elephant, the positional sense of an elephant, the finishing ability of an elephant and probably shites like an elephant

The trouble is for me, we are just shite everywhere. We never once break in behind a team. I can't remember hen we last did

I agree with your comments but, on a more general point, why on earth do professional footballers insist on taking a touch before having a shot on goal? Can they not hit the ball on the move or on the volley? Surely this is a basic skill learned in much earlier years. So many chances are lost by doing thus in high tempo games.

Fuck me, some on here are actually saying he held the ball up! You must have a different perspective to me, he is the worst footballer I have seen in the premier league, always moves in an opposite direction to the ball played to him.
