Tremlett, Finn and Rankin are there for hostility. The fact they are offering none, and bowling in the mid 80's is serious cause for concern.

Tremlett was bowling late 70's / 80 at the Gabba

IMO we have no choice but to use Broad in that role as those 3 have been a major let down. Hopefully Anderson, Stokes and Bresnan can bowl flat out too, say mid 80's to try to get as much out of the pitch as possible.

At the minute we're fighting real pace with trundle

Stokes. Can bowl up around 90 on a wicket like the WACA. Also showed promising signs with the bat at Adelaide and bonus points for squaring up to Johnson and Haddin.

Early speculation by one or two journos on twitter it appears Bresnan will come in one of the spinners, Ballance to replace Stokes. Looks like Stokes best chance to retain his place is if England don't go in with either spinner.

Can someone explain this Ballance love in. why should he get in ahead of Stokes?

Daft twats, surely WACA is one game Stokes has to play. Failing that give Finn or Rankin a crack. Bresnan adds depth to the batting but he isn't going to be a strike bowler on these wickets. Anderson is looking tidy but not particularly threatening, need someone to support Broad in taking the attack to them.

Not impressed with Carberry at all; i actually place quite a lot of the blame for the first test on him. He was going along nicely and then just ground to a halt and went into a bunker, he didnt score a run for about 45 mins. He also has a pretty average first class record and is 33, his time has gone. Swann has been pathetic in this series and ive never been impressed with Panesar, there has been hardly any spin so far and the aussies have climbed into our spinners. Another thing is the fielding, we have to hold onto every chance and we cannot be carrying men like Panesar, he is probably the worst fielder ever to grace international cricket.

Ive never been a fan of Bresnan but its clear that injuries have finished off Tremlett, bowling late 70's is just not good enough to take international wickets and Rankin isnt a test quality bowler. Bresnan might add a little bit of steel to our late order which has wilted so far.

The best way to approach this is to assume that the series has gone, just go into it with the mentality of a street fighter; wipe that smug smile off Mitchell Johnson's face. Id be chirping at him all the time; the Barmy army have a big part to play aswell, if they can get together and put him off his game; if he doesnt take a wicket and the crowd are on his back after every bad ball he WILL revert back to type. Every batsman should be told to put the hook shot away, get the arms guards, chest guards etc and just either duck the short ball or let it hit you (this is a top class sporting spectacle they should be prepared to put their bodies on the line). Remember we hold the ashes so the Aussies have to WIN the series, theyre all assuming winning at Perth is a formality, beat them and they WILL panic!

We don't need 5 quicks tho

Well, 4 front-line bowlers has hardly worked thus far.

He's outscored Stokes by miles in the CCC. To be fair, Ballance and Root have looked like Test batsman for a while whereas Stokes has been scratchy (at best) with the bat. If you were talking about pure bats then Ballance has done far far more to warrant a chance in the Test team.

But Stokes can bowl quick and has the personality that he'll be carted off in handcuffs before he gives in to the Aussies. I hope they stick with him in Perth.

ballance has also scored decent runs for the epp out in australia so i do suspect they will bring him in, harsh on stokes, not sure what more you can expect from someone on debut in such a ridiculous situation, first appearance and you're in australia chasing nearly 600 facing mitchell johnson in the form of his life.... likewise it seems foolish to give ballance his debut in a series deciding match at the waca but there you go....

i think they should stick with stokes and just bring bresnan in for monty but i suspect ballance wil come in. should have played ballance in the last test if they were going to drop stokes so quickly. poor man management again.

What the England team have to remember is that despite the massive gulf in form between the teams so far in this series, that's all it is - form. England are still, man-for-man, the better side and all it takes is a good session or two to change the momentum of the series.

Everything is against England at the moment but if they can somehow come out firing in this game and make it 2-1; Australia would be under huge pressure. The media over there are already giving them the Ashes back at 2-0 up so if we can start to turn things around their players are liable to panic. They are not used to winning series and they might find it tough to get over the line. I hope so anyway.

Stokes has earned the right to keep his place imo. He did a decent job with the bat and ball in Adelaide when you compare to how some of the experienced and senior players performed.

England will retain the ashes !

We will turn up with the bat ... Take the chances that we've failed to in the first two games. And the Aussies will wilt under the pressure of being 2-0 up

EASY
