I think Poyet is a very talented manager

And the tactics he's got us playing are good, he's got us looking organised and hard to beat, which is a relief after the way we started the season.

However, I would question some of his personnel selections. Gardner/Borini for me weren't very good tonight, and there are obvious replacements for them. Some of his subs are strange too...... maybe he thinks Giaccherini can't last 90 minutes, but even with him tiring, he was more effective than those mentioned.

It's a small thing, and he does make some great calls, like Altidore tonight, was obviously more suited for this kinda game..... he's built the team around Ki and dropped him very deep, he's put faith in Mannone, Bardsley and Dossena (not sure about the last one but he's the only option really). I just don't think Gardner fits the team well, even O'Shea has learned to pass to his own team, but Gardner hasn't really...and I know he can shoot and gets forward, but tbh, I'd rather let Colback or Larsson do that.

And Borini doesn't really look like a wideman to me, he does a good Tommy Miller impression. Johnson gets a lot of slack, but at least he gets on the ball. Or maybe give one of the young lads a go.

I agree. If we stay up we will push on under him for sure.

He's rotating players at the minute due to the number of games we have in the space of 21 days or so. They're pretty much like for like in terms of talent and contribution so he's making informed decisions on what he sees in training and how he believes they can contribute against said opposition.

Thought we were dross tonight, worst we've played under Poyet apart from the second half down Swansea. Expect it to just be a one off though, we've looked much sharper all round for the most part.

Really???

I thought we were pretty decent, considering Chelsea are pretty good. Dross is a huge overstatement, we scored 3 goals against Chelsea like.

I thought Borini did ok and was working hard tracking back, Giaccherini did nowt going forward and wasn't supporting Bardsley, he made the right decision there for me.

Very poor defending from Chelsea for all three goals from set pieces that we managed to bundle in. We just couldn't deal with them coming forward at all & lost out in midfield far too much. Badly missing that link in between the midfield and whoever's up front, we didn't really seem sure on what to do when Chelsea pressed us high up the pitch.

Hope Ellis Short realizes this and gives him a longer term contract to build a club not just a team and backs him like he backed Keano and Bruce in the transfer market.

borini for fletcher was a move crying out to happen.

celustka ahead of dossena all day long. one instance stuck out in my mind where the ball was going out of play and dossena for no reason heads it back into play, straight to them leaving himself out of position and they get a chance to cross under no pressure. wtf.

gardner back in the side is a move i can understand, he actually wasnt playing too bad this season but since coming back in in this great tactical 'play everyone who's ever scored' move he has been his usual plodding self.

cough cough first half against hull cough.

cant see us getting anyone better...we need to give him a few bob and get some stability at the club...
we'll leave the chopping and changing of managers to Man Utd now...
