If Monty was going to play anywhere it would be here, but I just can't see them weakening the batting that much.

I wouldn't be overly surprised but Flower is cautious by nature and I can't seeing him going in with only 5 bats, or only 2 seamers for that matter.

Don't think Flower would pick him here unless Swann was injured, the fact Monty isn't the greatest batsman or fielder doesn't help his case either. Especially how England like their 3-dimensional cricketers. Which brings Stokes nicely into the equation.

Does anyone think Stokes and Ballance could play? Stokes in the Bresnan role perhaps? Not for one minute suggesting I think it'll happen. Just wondered if it was a possibility.

I think the only chance Stokes would play would be if Monty did as well but I don't think England will be brave enough to have Carberry, Root, Stokes and Prior in their top 7 when they've all got some serious question marks against their batting for one reason or another. I think Ballance is the safest choice and they'll go with that and Bresnan.

I don't think there's any chance of Stokes playing now that Bresnan's fit. I think he'll be straight in the side which is a concern because of how little cricket he's had against a crap side and also how long it took him to get back into rhythm after his last spell out although admittedly that was for a different injury.

Heard on the wiress that apparently Michael Clarke didn't train today due to an ankle injury - he's still likely to play.

Just thought I'd mention it :-)
