I think Lewis confirmed at the forum last night that he'll be back[DOUBLEPOST=1379620177][/DOUBLEPOST]

Muchall and Breese offered one day contracts only. No idea if they've accepted. Breese is getting on but Much could do a really good job in the Championship for a division two side[DOUBLEPOST=1379620268][/DOUBLEPOST]

Arshad has batted in the middle order for the Academy. Expect Ryan Pringle to play in the Championship as an all-rounder next year too. Rami Singh is probably the next in line at the top of the order.[DOUBLEPOST=1379620478][/DOUBLEPOST]Intriguing little snippet from Dobell on who we wanted to sign in the summer here

Great article that. Enjoyed it a lot and thanks for posting it.

Hope Benks stays just to add the experience, would *cough* be happy for Smith to stay.

Shame about James Harris would have been a cracking signing.

Stoneman, Jennings, (Smith),Borthwick, Stokes, Collingwood, Benkenstein, Richardson, Mustard, Arshad, Harrison, Pringle, Onions, Woods, Rushworth, Buckley

16 man squad (Smith included if he stays). Looks a seamer light over a season, Would also like another batsmen but would hope Benks and Colly have an indian summer to cover Stokes (hopefully) international call up.

Rami Singh is probably the next in line at the top of the order.

You want to hope he isn't. Couldn't score a run for Gateshead Fell in the NEPL never mind Durham in the LVCC.[DOUBLEPOST=1379631441][/DOUBLEPOST]
Not exactly, sounded more like they didn't have a clue

I hope Smith stays too, nice guy
Spoke with Smith today and he said he wouldn't be playing cricket next season. Looking to do something away from cricket.

He's obviously a very bright guy and probably has something lined up, wish him all the best

Defo has something lined up and certainly an exceptionally clever guy. Good luck to him in his new venture.
Shame that cricket cannot provide an income high enough to retain him. His contract running out and obviously nobody can offer him one high enough to tempt him to stay in the game

Surrey (or Notts) could probably manage it the way they chuck money at overseas players.

Well, we're just masters at overcoming adversity

Perhaps we should try to find the next brigadier block, other counties just think is too boring to play for them

Joe Sayers doing owt? :)

Pringle is an interesting one, obviously a talented young cricketer, wonder if it is just worth sticking him in at 7 at some point next season, may improve him leaps and bounds

We will obvs be a batter short but I'd rather we stick another of ours in

So off the books for next season are Harmy, Claydon, Brathwaite Thorp and Smith, with the possibility Muchall and Breese being available for one day cricket. That leaves the Benks situation up in the air, I have heard the clubs line that he still has one year left on his contract and expect to see him back for pre season but iam sure they would like to come to some agreement with him especially as there does not appear to be a future for him at the club beyond next season as a player.
There also appears to be one or two players like Richardson and Harrison who may have agreed new contracts but nothing announced yet. Stokes must be staying or the national media would have got hold of the story if he was leaving.

Under normal circumstances you would have thought Pringle Buckley and Arshad will all get full contracts for next season. Not sure who else but i get the feeling Durham will probably have another 4 or 5 players on development contracts.

I'm sceptical about Benks coming back next year. that press release from Sunfoil Dolphins seemed pretty clear that he is now an Ex-Durham player. Add to that the rumours that the dressing room wasn't big enough for him and Colly make a strong case for him now leaving the club.

Hope the club persuade him otherwise though. Arguably the most influential player in our short first class history.

They might do with Benks what they did with Harmison....gets his money but lets his contract expire...without playing. I guess we'll see but what a contrast to what the members thought would happen.[DOUBLEPOST=1379713461][/DOUBLEPOST]
Rami had a nightmare season for Fell in the NEPL. Currently on a development contract and I can't see it being renewed. Pringle and Arshad are the 2 most likely to be able to step up imo.
Rami is a cracking lad but I tend to agree with you. This season has not really gone according to plan for him is my view. Cant remember ever seeing him as say 12th man.

Looking at his stats on the cricket archive site barely scored a run for the Fell or the seconds this season, this was his second year on a development contract.

Scored even less runs for Benwell Hill the season before IIRC.

Jack Clark, the opener for the Academy, seems highly rated. Expect him to be a big player in the 2s next season.

most important really is for the Benks situation to be resolved early and maybe even Stokes to get an incremental contract during the winter. Would free some pennies up, especially as onions looks like he'll be paid by Durham only.

Amazing that Smith, despite criticism and relatively mediocre stats, has now won the county championship 4 times, including as captain. Good luck to him for the future.

Main problem I'd see is the batting if Rocky got injured.
