I know obviously Harmison, Claydon, Thorp etc are leaving but is there any word on Smith, Richardson and Harrison yet?

The word seems to be that Smith is away. Hopefully he's done well enough to get a good contract elsewhere.

I would guess high earners with not as long left on their contracts or playing careers. The youngsters will be on less expensive contracts and have proved they have potential to develop. The days of chucking money at the County Championship are long gone. Maybe Onions and Stokes will get Central Contracts and take some of the wage burden from the club.

Changed my tune on Smith this last two months but he has shown a lot of fight & versatility in all forms of the game. Be a shame if he goes.

I was hoping we would only need rid of Muchall, Harmison, Claydon & Braithwaite & Thorp and we would have enough cash to retain the rest + maybe get an overseas player in.

No chance of an overseas next year apparently.

I think you and me might have been the biggest Smith critics. As it happens, he's performed admirably this season and I'm not ashamed to admit he's proven me wrong. I hope the club can keep hold of him.

Surely the wages saved on the likes of Harmison, Plunkett and Blackwell will allow room for some luxuries for next season.

Would love to see one overseas man come in for all formats, all season. The old school way. Don't buy into this bollocks of having 5 or 6 different guys coming in for various means.

Smith, Claydon, Braithwaite, Harmison, Benkenstein.

I would keep Muchall just for the t20 and 5o over cup.

Based on collys interview doesn't sound like any of this is likely, sounds like there will be more to go if anything

Not exactly, sounded more like they didn't have a clue

I hope Smith stays too, nice guy

I think Lewis confirmed at the forum last night that he'll be back[DOUBLEPOST=1379620177][/DOUBLEPOST]

Muchall and Breese offered one day contracts only. No idea if they've accepted. Breese is getting on but Much could do a really good job in the Championship for a division two side[DOUBLEPOST=1379620268][/DOUBLEPOST]
Any academy batters ready to step up?

Arshad has batted in the middle order for the Academy. Expect Ryan Pringle to play in the Championship as an all-rounder next year too. Rami Singh is probably the next in line at the top of the order.[DOUBLEPOST=1379620478][/DOUBLEPOST]Intriguing little snippet from Dobell on who we wanted to sign in the summer here

Nice one carl, good to hear that

I remember when colly signed his contract, after all the uncertainty. My yorkie mate winding me up that he was finished, I knew it was a great moment for the club

Ive seen a lot of cards for the 2nds this season & there hasnt been many big scores iirc.
Playing on wickets rejected for 1st class games though, half the time?

Or do they play at the out grounds?

From what John Lewis said at the Members forum I think CollingwoodFTM's the closest. The likes of Harrison, Richardson, Buckley, Arshad won't be on wages anywhere near the likes of Smith.

If as rumoured Breese and Muchall are on one day contracts so they must be pretty cost effective. I can't see Benk's coming back. I think the injury risk is too high for the club to gamble paying his wages for the season.

I expect Stoneman, Jennings, Borthwick, Richardson, Colly to be the top order next season. John was hinting that there's a really good batsman waiting to come through but I can't for the life of me remember his name.

One thing that was asked by a member which I was disgusted by was 'can't we trim the admin staff?' to which the club replied 'was being looked at'.

Smith is going. No idea why the likes of Harrison has been mentioned. He will be here next year. Muchall and Breese on reduced contracts - craic is that Muchall may take up a position at one of the private Durham schools. Claydon Brathwaite Thorp away. I dont think we'll see Benks but time will tell on that one.
