Has Benks left the club?

I'm told that DCCC really were up financial shit street and that they brought a firm in to sort their financial woes out. This will result, I'm told, in a new Board member joining the club. It'll be interesting too see the reaction of people when they find out who it is! He is very well known but for all the wrong reasons.

Finally there really has to be some serious questions asked about Harker's part in the financial woes of DCCC. He was the one with responsibility for finance matters. I'm staggered that the bloke is still around.

I still don't understand how Harker stood down as Chief Exec then suddenly came back on board and I think now he is known as group chief exec!!!

I'm intrigued as to who this new board member is.

New board member not Adam Applegarth by any chance?

Ye Gods. If this chancer is going to get involved, the financial problems we might have now will seem as nothing shortly.

On the plus side, we won't have to worry about the team winning games in the future. We can just pretend that everything is just as we want it, as it was in Applegarth's La La Land and we win every one.

Thinking about this do we know of anyone who has had their contract paid up early? I'm sure that MDV left by mutual consent, Harmison hung around and got paid so clearly Benkenstein either comes back, mutually agrees not to come back and the contract is cancelled or he finds himself another club in say SA. I doubt he would get it paid up.

John Hall?

More creditworthy article in Telegraph- Harker quoted that our wage bill next year likely to be nearer £1·1 million rather than £1·8 million of the past.I reckon that means no further releases other than the bowlers we already know about.

Did Carl write it? ;)
Ha! Not me I'm afraid.[DOUBLEPOST=1378637751][/DOUBLEPOST]

Did Breese and Muchall accept the one day only contracts?

Harker doesn't specify that but seeing as they've both virtually had just 1 day roles in recent years I don't suppose the fine points of their contracts matters. Main thing is it looks as if they're be here next year in the same role as they've been this year.

Nothing new, and mostly guesswork on the writers part.
The article written by Stuart Rayner may not have revealed any new information on whom is actually staying and going, but it is very unusual for a local journalist to have a pop at the club the way he has. It is mentioned twice that the club refused to disclose when each player is contracted to. He also mentions that Benks has been in his new job in South Africa for the past two weeks and the club made no public annoucement (Rayner along with Marty Emmerson where actually informed of this via twitter by a Durham supporter, both where unaware and also the comments Benks had made).
It is also interesting he mentions Richardson having the option of another year, he looked a rather angry young man after he scored that 100 against Yorkshire and seemed more intent on making a point to the dressing room than celebrating with Rushy.
The club may be trying to keep it all on hold till the end of the season but i would hope that the journalist are trying to find out what is happening especially the situation with Benks.
