The problem is not health and safety (as a mare of mine once said, the alternative is disease and danger). The problem is that too many of the people in charge in this country are petty minded morons who don't know how to apply common sense when they're setting up rules and procedures.

I like this post.

However I'd add that H&S can be OTT. An example: a car is smouldering, there is a fire starting. The coppers arrive before the fire brigade. But they're not allowed to tackle it, even if they have an extinguisher that would nip it in the bud. Instead they have to watch the fire get worse. If the fire engine takes 5 mins to get there and the fire has by that point destroyed the car then tough tits.

It's the removal of common sense and judgement to such decisions that is annoying. However CM is probably correct, this is to protect employees from the petty minded morons.

We've short circuited Natural Selection and as a result the country is reaming with idiots who by all rights should have died through their own stupidity years ago.

Not everyone in the army is a 'hero'.
Abortions should be made mandatory for under-age pregnancies.
You should have to pass a 'not a scratter' test to have children.

Why is that?

What right does the state have to forcibly perform abortions?

I see what you're trying to achieve. Presumably you're of the belief that most underage pregnancies involve girls from low-income backgrounds who are rather likely to become economically inactive single mothers.

Whilst I think you're right with that assumption, mandatory abortion is an absolutely hideous idea.

Not everyone should be allowed to vote.

You should need to apply to have a license to be allowed to have children.

The Beatles are shite.

I like the cut of your jib Marc.

To be honest a lot of H&S gorn mad is 'our' own fault. Many rules get put in place because Insurers insist on it. They insist on it because someone has successfully claimed under employers/public liability etc.

He didn't think those were the words, did he?

Who was it who said jewels remain still cleaming? Was it Disco?

Is Disco even alive?

Aye, I don't know the lad but I was going through an old thread of SAFC song lyrics and people were posting what they used to sing (incorrectly) as kids growing up.

I can't remember who posted jewels remain still cleaming, definitely one of the best threads on here though.
