Our batting is such a mess atm - we are crying out for a top order player, the rest you can all argue to be moved up or down the order for whatever reason... and no self respecting player is going to be happy playing solely as a batsman to bat down at No8.
Essentially the toss had a lot to do with the defeat. We arrived in London early on the first morning and it was very muggy and humid. the bairn and I hoped for Colly to win the toss. When he didnt we werent surprised to find ourselves 3 down within 40 minutes or so.
We bowled well and no one really scored many runs individually. The wicket got a bit easier on the afternoon of day 2 but on the closing period day 3 Middlesex were clearly determined to take their time and wait for the bad ball. They didnt want to collapse and set a panic away.
Great place to visit and we will be back again next year for what is now an annual pilgrimage.
We're still in with a great shout of the CC so all is definitely not lost.
