Durham v Middlesex LVCC

Didn't seem to be much wrong with the pitch. Watched the afternoon session and wickets went to poor shots. Seemed to be a bit of spin on offer.

Blue sky and sunshine this morning.

It could be swinging a mile still nee chance of us winning and if this fucks up our chance of the championship then our batters need a hard look at there technique as our batting has been abysmal this season.

Kneejerks on here as bad as pf. Durham were marvellous last week
Aye cos derbyshire are a cracking side.

The fact of the matter is our batting has not been good enough this season

Just looked it up 6 centuries this season and borthwick has our highest average ffs at 39. Shite

So, time to take stock and look towards the 'run-in'. We've got 6 games left, starting on 22 Aug - meaning a rather busy last month or so of te season and that's before you consider the possibility of a T20 finals day and/or CB40 knockout games.

On a positive note - our bowling is f***ing excellent.

Now for the negatives, the batting order is wrong and the personnel in it either aren't good enough or need time to gain experience which could lead to them being valuable assets. I'm still not sure Borthwick should be number 3, however he's definitely worth putting up the order. Perhaps 5/6? I'd personally like to see Collingwood bat at 3. I'm not sure Jennings should be opening, maybe he'd be more suited to 4/5/6? Smith, if he must be in the side, should open. I'm rambling really so I'm just going to state my preferred batting order and then you lot can pick faults with it as you wish - which will probably lead to me explaining myself a bit further.

Stoneman
Smith
Collingwood
Jennings
Borthwick
Stokes
Mustard
Richardson

Why have Richardson at 8? we might as well stick Breese in there who can contribute with the ball too.

I'm going off this group. Bearing in mind Breese is injured. Personally I'd play Breese and Richo (if all are fit) and leave out Smith.

Breese was bowling and batting for Consett yesterday so when did he get injured?

I was going off what Brandon said. Unbelievable that we left out two of our inform batsmen. We had to bring back Colly with him being the captain, but Jennings?

Hopefully Breesey will be fine for Tuesday and the remainder of the seasons CC games. What does everyone else think we should do with the batting? I pose a further line-up, which I'd like to see for the Surrey game, fitness willing:

Stoneman
Jennings
Collingwood
Richardson
Borthwick
Stokes
Mustard
Breese
Wood
Onions
Rushworth

I know I'd rather see Jennings at 3/4 perhaps but seeing as we have no other opening options - unless we bring in another young'un - I've gone with him. I also want Scotty up there and Stokes down at 6 in the same way Bairstow is 6 for England. Which relates to comments on Sky this morning about Stokes possibly being the next man to step into the England side (all-rounder wise).
