LVCC D1 - Durham v Middlesex

If we have hopes of winning the Championship we need to win this as playing Middlesex without Finn and Morgan is as good as time as any to play them. I look through their side and dont see how they have been doing so well.

Been carried by 3 players so far, Robson and Rogers with about 500 runs apiece, and Murtagh has 30 wickets.

Great chance to get a big win if they are without Murtagh, Morgan and Finn.

Paul Collingwood (c)
Mark Stoneman
Keaton Jennings
Scott Borthwick
Will Smith
Ben Stokes
Phil Mustard
Gareth Breese
Mark Wood
Callum Thorpe
Graham Onions
Michael Richardson

No Rushy - is he injured?

Must be injured? Or perhaps in need of a rest? Although its a fortnight or so until the next CC game so it isn't as if he's being held back for the next game.

I'd expect Richo to miss out, if Breese is fit.

Received a tweet from the club that Rushy isn't injured so it seems odd that a bowler who is taking plenty of wickets should be shelved.

It is a very long season and we have an abundance of seamers to pick from so makes sense to rotate them round. Durham will feel the benefit in the latter part of the season in my view.

Yep. And with Benks gone, Wood just gives that little extra in the tail

Very surprised they have left Rushy out, I would of rested him on Sunday.

Wood/Thorp/Onions/Breese is still a good enough attack.

He didn't take a wicket at The Oval whereas Thorp performed very well with the new ball. Perhaps Thorp has got the nod over Rushy to share the new ball with Bunny. Just playing devils advocate here but I'm guessing they don't want two players that are very 'samey' playing in the same side. We've still got a good seam attack there assuming Stokes is fit to bowl.

Yeah must mean Stokes is fit to bowl.

Still seems a tad harsh but trust their judgement.

Are we expecting to see much of Buckley then? Couldn't of done much more at the Oval, or is Breese a shoe in now?

According to the official site Buckley misses out due to a back (iirc) injury. Not sure he'll get another chance to play now either u less someone else gets injured

Given how well he did last week he'll at least get a run out in the CB40 games once we can't qualify (should be soon)

I'll be at the ground tomorrow at some point and I'll have a word with Chris's Dad about why he isnt playing. I'm sure that there will be a perfectly simple explanation. I know of nothing untoward going on.

Always going to be an interesting decision with the pace bowlers once Stokes was fit to bowl. They don't need 4 front line seamers plus a fit Stokes. Did not think they would rest Rushy for a home championship match but pleased they have retained Wood.

Surely anyone can deal with the LMC too.

On another note, I saw article on their website about relocating the members lounge on Friday due to 'a major booking'. What can be so major? On a day when County cricket is being played?? Is it perhaps a wedding? It seems very much that all DCCC are becoming interested in is money. They've treat their members with contempt already this season with the catering debacle. Then they'll be hosting shit concerts on the outfield during the middle of the cricket season. That's before we delve into the clubs lack of ambition in not signing an overseas player.

I'm starting to think the people running the club are a set of f***ing clowns.

TBF i can totally live with it.

i was gutted we didnt resign chanderpaul but his place in the side went to stokes and that seems to have turned out nicely. Jennings hasnt blown us away yet but he wouldnt be getting the opportunity to play at all if we had signed an overseas player. It was a shame to lose blacky but buckley & pringle look promising too. Plunkett replaced in the side by wood etc etc

There's a few grounds that charge less than £15 a day, Trent Bridge for instance is only £11 a day.

i dont see this as a problem at all. 15 a day or 12.50 in advance is a canny price IMO and i dont see knocking a few quid off making any difference

i got the impression buckley would be a cc spinner and pringle has been given the nod in one day matches... i guess at the moment buckley is behind breesy in th epecking order.. which is fair enough really

Re the match chat, I suppose its back to here for that, although we lose the non Sunderland supporters, could ask Marty to mention this forum on his twitter and we might pick up a few of the stragglers:-?

Re pricing of games, I think they should do a reduced price entry after tea during midweek. for those of us who work mid week. I would pop in for an hour or so after work, but there is no way I am paying £15 for a few overs when they could easily be going off for bad light 5 mins after I arrive. I would happily pay a fiver though and take my chances.

Somerset 43-7

They won the toss and elected to bat. Not looking like a good decision.

42 for 2
42 for 3
43 for 4
43 for 5
43 for 6
43 for 7

Canny collapse that.
