LVCC D1 - Durham v Yorkshire

Jennings and Richardson might be decent bats, at the minute we don't know. Smith and Stoneman have had far to many chances and have proved they aren't up for the job.

So put the quality at 3,4,5 and fit the rest around....

Jennings
Take your pick of whats left
Collingwood
Stokes
Benks
Richardson
Mustard
Borthwick
Thorp
Onions
Rushworth

Hopefully Rudolph will fill the gap.

At the moment I wouldn't change anything, except our luck if it were possible. Two games in is far too early to start making changes when there's no obvious candidates to come in, and I count Richardson in that category, yes he's a good cricketer and yes he's capable of scoring runs but not in the top 3 just yet.

The number 3 spot "broke" Muchall last season and now after only two games looks like "breaking" Smith already, the last thing the club needs right now is to knock the stuffing out of another young talented cricketer before he's got a chance to establish himself in the side. I've watched Richardson enough over the last couple of seasons to know he's a really good cricketer and don't deny he deserves a chance, but I've also seen enough of Muchall and Smith to know that they are also good cricketers but at the moment being given the No 3 berth is like the kiss of death, and it would be a shame to "break" another talented player so soon.

If and when the inevitable happens and one, or two of the top 3 gets dropped, they will find it harder to get back into the side baring any injuries. Richardson stands a far better chance of getting in and keeping his place once the wickets flatten out and batting becomes easier, a bit hard on the current top 3 buts that's cricket.

Personally I'm quite happy to wait till after the Notts game to see where we are and then make changes if nessacary, I honestly can't see how swapping things about this early would benefit the team as a whole, it would be different if we had a Rudolph carrying the drinks, but we haven't so we've just got accept what we've got for now.
Fair comment.

According to Benks in his column in this mornings Journal players have accepted and are of the mind frame we'll be doing without an overseas signing tis season. So we can't change much even if we wanted too. Warwicks have a very fine attack and you need that bit of luck early on which we haven't had. Jennings hasn't done bad-he hasn't had any scores but apart from his latest innings he's hung around for an hour or so which is basically the openers function.

The forecast for Thursday Friday isn't good, so a weather induced draw looks favourite for now.

Durham win the toss and will bat according to Yorkshire's official twitter account.

LMC isn't even up on our club website yet.

But who else is there. In the seconds they are either players who have not made an impact or very young. Would you want to put a 17 or 18 year old into our batting line up, I think not as you could scar them for life and ruin their prospects, so unless we can sign a good overseas batsman, and my guess is that we cann't as theres no money , we just have hope our bowlers beat their batsmen more than our batsmen fail

Well done Benks and Smith 50 up now dig in until lunch

Muchall? His usual 30/40 then out would be very welcome at the moment.

Richardson as a batter?

Borthwick up the order?

Stokes up the order?

I'd even be tempted to have Colly open, tbh.

Muchall has been tried several times and never really nailed a spot down, is he any better than what we have?
Richardson Ok

Stokes and Borthwick are already in the team

Colly to open might be a shout, how often has he opened if ever in a four day game? He has the experience to do it and it would be leading from the front
