LVCC D1 - Durham v Yorkshire

We've even survived the extra half hour beyond tea (for being 9 down).

This could be a contest yet.

To be honest I am sorry it is tea, both batsmen will need to get back and all joking apart for number eleven to get in twice is not easy.

Lets hope we can get to 250 for the next batting piont and then get a couple out tonight then it might be a more even day than it looked at one time.

Rushy got hit on or just above the elbow, he looks to be struggling with it, lets hope the phsyio can work some magic during the tea interval. Durham need his bowling far more than his batting.

How many of you lot are down the ground. I am going into the gym in about 30mins and plan on catching a bit of the play . Would be nice to put faces to names.

Just got back.

Cracking knock from Mustard and some entertaining shots from Onions (shite run out!).

Bresnan looked good, unlike Plunkett

whats good first innings score
Went down for the last session.

Clearly bowler friendly wickets are being prepared so the 250 mark is a good score. I wouldnt be surprised if this sort of score is par for certainly the early season, and perhaps the whole season.

Yorkshire in a potentially difficult situation now. Two or three early wickets tomorrow, eminently possible, could see them do a Somerset and collapse to 150 all out.

Our batting looks like it is set for the season - not much from the top order and a late rally from the lower order to get us to 225 to 275.

Talk about a misleading headline. I hope that isn't Marty's writing! Yeah, we struggled early but I'd put us 'slightly' in front at the moment. Not by much like and if Gale had survived two balls more I'd probably have had them ahead! Maybe the headline is just trying to catch the eye of England/Test fans.

As for the day, well, it's never dull with Durham mind. My personal emotion timeline is as follows -

11:15 - Here we go again. Openers cant bat for shit.
13:00 - We've turned the batting corner!
14:05 - Shot ourselves in the foot, fuck off Smith/Stokes
14:30 - Where's that short length of rope??!
16:40 - We might make 300 here!!
17:20 - Could have them following-on!!
18:24 - Yorkshire's day, let the kernts off the hook.
18:25 - BUNNY!!!! Durham ahead on points :-D

That probably best sums it up.

There's an article on the Beeb website where Cook says he feels there's no need to press the panic button after just two games. Well Geoff, it's now been near enough three year of some top order batsmen being f***ing wank, so what you gonna do about it?!!

Jennings really isn't coping, perhaps he needs dropping down the order?

Richo must get a go next week.

Unfortunately Richo has hardly scored a run for the seconds so far this season, the curse of the top three has reached down into the 2s as well, he's not the answer just yet.

Thing is, he was in excellent form last season - which makes it baffling why he hasn't been given a go this term. The way I see it, he deserves a go based on his efforts last season and based on the fact that the current top order is shite.

So much for Cook keeping him at the club with a promise of first team action. He'll probably end up leaving before long :-?

The fact that Richardson hasn't done as well as he'd like for the seconds so far justifies his omission from the 1st team for now. I'd like to see him get his chance but only when his form merits it, everyone at the top of the order in both the 1s and 2s is struggling for form right now but I'm sure it will sort it self out in time. We've only got the squad we've got and all the criticism in the world won't make these players any better than they actually are.

So you agree we need to get shot of the shite at the top of the order and bring in some proper talent?!
