I support Sunderland, can't remember signing up to say I support the DMA when I purchased my season card. If the club doesn't put these insignificant peasants back in their place this nonsense will carry on every time they want to get tv coverage. Throw them and their stupid flag into the Wear.

It's kind of ironic that they would force someone to join an organisation, in a protest against fascism.

This seems like a very reasonable proposal to me, and I support it 100%.

I'm happy that Di Canio has made a public statement distancing himself from both racism and fascism.

Although I still have some personal doubts about its sincerity (and make no mistake, fascists have certainly been known to lie about such things) the point is that the pressure got him to make such a statement, and that's a significant victory.

The work's not done, though. I think the miners have the right idea here in making this much more about attempting to create support for anti-fascism in general rather than simply focusing efforts on Di Canio's politics. The Black Cats have already been active supporters of anti-racist campaigns within football, so I'd love to see this happen too!

Would be a great step towards spreading the sort of vocal anti-fascist sentiment that's so visible elsewhere in the stands at some other football clubs, from Celtic to St. Pauli to Barcelona and beyond. Would be a Premier League first, too, and a really great example to have in the most televised sports league in the world.

Both my Grandfathers (RIP) worked for the NCB and although people dont normally like to speak on behalf of others i can categorically state that there is no f***ing way on God's Earth would they have wanted the DMA going on like this. Who the fuck do they think they are and what exactly does anti fascism have to do with it?

If people or organisations want to join the anti fascist movement then that is up to them. However people should do so voluntarily not being press ganged into it.

The anti-fascist movements who've been using PDC's appointment as an excuse to shout their mouths off, are the greatest recruiting sergeants for the extreme right.
Does anybody really believe PDC's arrival would have attracted anyone from The BNP or EDL to our club? But Miliband's resignation, the ant-fascists jumping on the bandwagon, Hopper and the national press blowing the whole thing into a national circus, means there is now a real possibility that unsavoury types from the far-right will attach themselves to our club.
I hope they soon disappear but if they appear at all then the anti-fascists, etc. will be to blame.

This for me, though I'm seriously re-thinking things after this last week, and I think many others will after all this posturing and point scoring by the people who are supposed to represent us, this could tip a lot of voters to look a bit closer to who we vote for next time an election comes around. As for the club they should stay neutral and as PDC says, not belong to any political organisation, we have backed anti-racism campaigns before and quite rightly, everything else should be left to the individual.
 
I am absolutely sickened by these scumbags dragging the name of the club through the dirt.

I really hope someone kicks Dave Hopper's head in for this.
