Relegation battle and a 20/20 no show looks on the cards

Nowt new there then

Mind if we have nee money I'd love to see the youth get a go. However I think there's more chance of them playing the same failures - whom I think we all know who I'm talking about :-(

We quite obviously have no money and Harker knows it.

Austins has been shut down and will not open until the cricket season starts. The new stand has not been started. The new hotel has not been started. The Gateway has not been started. No overseas player now. Currently we also have no kit supplier.

Looks like a bloody mess to me.

Not if we can start the season the way we finished the last one, and who gives a sh*te about the pyjama stuff?;-)

The sooner they condense it into a shorter period so it does not break up the proper cricket, the better.

As from 2014 there will be no gap in the middle of the season for T20. Virtually every week of the season will consist of a championship game from Sunday to Wednesday, a T20 match on a Friday night and in some weeks a 50 over game slotted in whenever possible.

As for next season I agree with you - if Durham can start the way they finished last season we'll be ok and will be in contention for the title. I'm not as bothered about the T20 but it would still be nice to give it a real go. If we have some young players ideally suited to that format I think we should use them and see what happens.

Based on what exactly?

Couldn't care one bit about the T20, county championship will be the main priority and I think we have a very good chance to challenge for the title

What's The Gateway?

Personally I hope they never build the new stand, the place would be too empty during county games and it would only get filled every other summer.

Still no kit supplier at present. Appalling the way that whole situation has been dealt with.

The club has plans to change the main entrance at the ground, its called the Gateway and will be moved around near to where the Health Club is.

Based on the fact we only really competed due to onions having a stormer and a couple of decent batting displays. We have a poor squad of players now that bar a few of the younger players who could take off are only going to get worse. People keep saying 20/20 means fuck all that is bollocks the biggest attendance's come from 20/20 games, financial your better off winning it than any other comp as well look at Somerset making a huge profit due to there 20/20 exploits last year. If we had done well in the 20/20s we Would have an overseas player by now. I'll bet £50 we don't get into the top three next year in the ccc with anyone, as some have said we will challenge for the title top 3 is doing so.

Got to disagree with a lot of what you say.

More than Onions who had a good season last season.

We've won 5 of our last 6 county championship games (the other was a draw).

Rushworth had a very good season and since our change in fortune from the Middlesex home game, a fair few have performed well, especially Scott Borthwick.

I don't believe we have a poor squad of players.

T20 was poorly attended last season at Durham, so the fans obviously don't think much of it.

I don't want to bet. If you're willing to bet £50, why not invest it in popping down and watching the team, meaning you're giving the club some money? T20 season ticket maybe?

I believe we'll have a good county championship season as what I saw in the last 6 games was very encouraging and offers hope for the forthcoming season.

I wish some on here would stop whinging on about an overseas player. Anyone with half a brain cell would realise the club is skint, due to the ridiculous money Harmison (for example) is earning. Would like to see us sign Phil Hughes (providing he isn't involved in the summer tests), but realistically I appreciate the club don't have much money.

Like all clubs, we have deadwood but we also have some good & promising cricketers. Jennings, Micheal Richardson, Mark Wood, Ben Stokes, Chris Rushworth & Scott Borthwick are good cricketers and I hope they get plenty of chances to do well. Experience from Thorp, Onions, Benkenstein and Collingwood will be beneficial as it was proven after the captaincy change. Question marks remain with Blackwell.

Question marks remain over Smith, Stoneman and obviously Muchall but every county team will say the same about certain players.

They will get more than £50 off me as they always do. Disappointing season awaits, yes everybody can see we have no money but you also need to speculate to accumulate if people saw a big name signing sponsors will be attracted as well as supporters.

A big part of the reason we haven't got a "Top Quality" overseas player is the wage cap, a lot of money is tied up with Harmison and Blackwell, and until their wages are taken out of the equation there's not much room for negotiation with a decent overseas player.

There's no point in signing an overseas player just for the sake of it, Colly has made it perfectly clear that any signing has to be a quality player who will commit to Durham for the majority of the season and not just 3 weeks at the start and 3 weeks at the end.

are you aware of the wage cap?

There are ways of getting round a wage cap funny you only mentioned that after someone else did lol

I've mentioned we are skint on here for months. Thick as fuck some people on here expecting someone like Ricky Ponting to sign for Durham

We're stuck with what we have, sooner the better people on here accept that instead of whinging on about it time and time again.

5 year membership ordered, haway Durham!!
