Thats not the point. Prior had more chance getting back having started than Trott ever had of getting all the way down.

Also, if England were to be 4 down with 16 overs left and 140 behind, Id actually say Trott was the better man for the situation.

Next month. Tell him he can do whatever the fuck he wants, but that we're not going to give him permission to play IPL, which national boards have to do.

A shame, but there's far hungrier and dedicated young players who could shine given the opportunities KP has been given. Maybe we can throw Taylor in at 4 or bring Compton in - he's averaging over 86 in Div 1 this season.
 
England can't really replace Pietersen and we certainly havent got the batsmen without him to score enough runs to be the best team in the world. However we will just have to try without him - we cant in my opinion make it one rule for him.
 
I don't blame the ECB or Pietersen. He hasn't got many years left and the money on offer in the IPL for 7 weeks' work is mental. He has to take it and set himself up for the rest of his life. The ECB can't bend the rules just for one player, either. No win situation.

They have good potential yes, but I would rather seen them alongside KP than replacing him. Anyone who thinks anything else is quite frankly living in cloud cuckoo land.

Sums it up really. The most annoying part of it all is the IPL is bloody awful.
 
Bet they offer him a contract which allows him to miss the early test matches against the poorer nations i.e West Indies, New Zealand & Bangladesh to play IPL.

Wouldn't be surprised if he plays in both of next years Ashes series and then retires anyway.
 
He cites family time as one of the reasons. Without double checking, he doesn't have any children? And if family time was so important then he wouldn't swan off to the IPL every year...

Hope the ECB remain firm but can't see it.
