Durham v Aus A

Nothing I've seen in the two Durham innings suggests either Myburg or Blackwell should play in the championship. Blackwell got runs in the second innings but he could easily have been out without scoring again, he needs more work on his fitness and mobility before being considered for a recall.

It's likely Mustard will play against Scotland, and if he comes through that ok he will play in the LVCC. For me, Richardson should play and bat at 8 with Scott Borthwick being promoted to 3, Scotty has been one of our better batters recently and deserves a chance higher up the order. Muchall is a nice lad, but unfortunately being nice doesn't help put runs on the board so should be dropped for now.

Myburgh got 34 in the 1st innings and has also scored runs in the 2nd XI recently, Blackwell got 60 in the 2nd innings, so that will benefit them both in terms of confidence. They have claimed a stake purely because so many are failing with the bat. Richardson is also scoring runs which I'm happy to see & deserves to retain his place. Good shout about Borthwick.

Muchall must be dropped, simply not good enough. I'm still not convinced Cook has the bottle to drop him though.

He may be a nice lad, I don't know, but he's certainly not a professional batsman in anything other than name.

thats a bit too harsh for my liking, especially since he has been far out in the lead as our best batsman in the pro40, it's not hard to see why cook would expect muchall to do better in the ccc.

whilst saying that, i totally agree he should have been dropped some time ago in the cc

dont agree at all with that though, decent with the bat and good with the ball plus great in the field, on his day blackwell is better with the bat but he has been very poor this year. not alot between them bowling wise but borthwicks numbers have been better this year whislt being underused, and as stated the fielding is no comarison

5 for blacky now, on a hatrick

he's making a lot of people look very silly

6 wickets in 18 overs in the game and 62 runs so far

7 wickets for blackwell now in the 2nd innings with 6 maidens.

8 wickets for the game

with the unfortunate news surrounding Tom Maynard and the retirnement of Ramps and injury to Tremlett, think they will go down with Worcestershire

Death has hit the county hard

Surely Blackie must play in the Surrey game now.

I wouldn't bet on it. It's no secret that Blackie's absence has more to do with non cricketing reasons than just form, Geoff Cook doesn't seem like the kind of bloke to back down because of one good performance in a friendly. Blackie's 7 wickets was a fantastic way to remind the coaches he's still up for it, but it doesn't change the fact he's in a worse shape now fitness wise than he was when he was first left out the side.
