We appear to have our wires crossed - the above mentioned quotes were to do with the article that some idiot at WCC apparently wrote attributing made up quotes to mr real and other WCC officials. Mr real and I were discussing it by PM at the time as we were in the process of removing references to it from the BQ website on the grounds that it was a load of shite - those comments are meant for him and are tongue in cheek; as he well knows. It's all about context.

The whole "ineligible player" thing is a different discussion and I've only passed on what I've been told. I haven't once given my own opinion on it. You went very defensive very quickly.

I also take it that, seeing as you're waiting for the league to contact you with a "final decision" - the league have been in touch and WCC are now putting their case forward, which they are entirely entitled to do. Suggests that the league did make a decision on the issue in the first instance though which is all that's ever been said.

I don't know what you're getting your knickers in a twist about - presumably you've calmed down after the Harbour blocked out that draw and are now in need of something else to focus on. For the record, the world isn't against you and very few of us actually care what the leagues final decision is on this. But when word has gone round the league about a club being in hot water for fielding ineligible players it certainly warrants discussion on a messageboard thread entitled "Coast League Banter".

About finding out what's going on - yes. It's clearly a discussion worthy topic and this thread was set up by Old Timer specifically to discuss Coast League goings-on. It's no different to anything else that's going on in the league.

About the actual end result? Not particularly - in fact my own personal views are very much on the side of "let them play as much as possible" when it comes to junior players.

For all I know the final, "official" decision could be to deem it ok for him to have played - all I posted was that the initial decision was that he was ineligible, which was a perfectly reasonable thing to post and invite discussion about.

I haven't once "had a go" over this affair because (as I've repeatedly said) I don't know for sure that this lad IS in the Academy squad. If he isn't then (again, as I've repeatedly said) there's no problem and WCC would be entirely correct to appeal. If he is, then the rules are clear and so you've no basis to come on here and say "Hylton play Washington". At this moment in time WCC aren't in the competition so that's patenty untrue. It isn't my opinion, nor was it my decision; it's just the present situation as it stands.

To be fair - between their "article" attributing false quotes to mr real, the comments passed by the Washington lot on the Harbour's batting approach, and now this; all ANYONE seems to have done on this thread is talk about Washington. It just seems to be where everything is happening at the moment!

also, on the academy page on the Durham website, Hickey is not listed among the acedemy players, so really unsure as to the situation with him

SATURDAY’S undoubted 3D Sports Durham Coast League match of the day is at Seaham Park, where the second-placed hosts face leaders Murton in a classic top of the table encounter.


After a slightly subdued start, Park are gathering a head of steam after winning the last three games they have played, and they are now just 12 points adrift of Murton.

Seaham skipper Mike McNicholas likens the clash to Park versus Park given the number of former players who will be on display, and the game gives him the chance to captain a side for the first time against someone who he regards as one of his closest friends and cricketing mentor, Dave Hanson, who leads the Murton team.

Park go into the match with an unchanged line-up, and the gauntlet is well and truly thrown down as Murton are also at full strength, with Keith Chapman and Ian King back in harness.

Double champions Boldon CA go to Bill Quay in desperate need of a confidence-boosting performance to lift spirits.

After being the dominant force for the last two years, the title holders find themselves without a win to date, and in the unusual position of third from bottom.

They are already a massive 70 points behind leaders Murton, and it looks increasingly unlikely that they will be able to defend their hard-won honour.

But the trip to Bill Quay may be the opportunity to take the first positive steps of the campaign as their hosts have their own problems and are three points behind CA.

Boldon skipper Lee Jackson puts his side’s early-season problems down to a number of issues, but primarily the lack of both match and non-match practice, with ground problems frustrating efforts to get on the field, something that has manifested itself in some “lack-lustre” batting displays which reached a head last Sunday when Easington demolished them for 49.

Quay’s issues have revolved more around player availability highlighted by last weekend’s double header where they played with significantly different teams on the two days.

Both sides show changes for this crucial encounter, with Quay bringing in Craig Falcus for Nathan Drewery, and Boldon having to contend without David Tate and Brian Conlon. Sean Beeson is drafted in and Gary Frater returns.

The highs and lows of cricket, and the value of the toss, were well and truly demonstrated by Silksworth last week.

In their first game against Ryhope, they initially had their opponents at 1-3 on a green wicket and went on to record a good win, but the following day they came back to earth with a bump after being inserted by Washington.

This Saturday sees them at Hylton, where the home side will be missing Gavin Barnes but have Liam Foster and Owen Williamson back in the fold.

Silksworth keep the same team as Sunday, with Malcolm Nichol at the races. Steve Wright got through both games and will continue to open the attack, although he sees himself as a batsman by constantly reminding everyone he’s the leading run-scorer!

Elsewhere, on-song Dawdon go to Ryhope, Easington entertain Seaham Harbour and Washington take on Peterlee.

It's about time; I was obviously inspired by LoB's snipe on Friday. It took me 34 overs to get them though - attritional stuff.

Your lad played an "interesting" shot mind - dont think he fancied batting in the heat!

Drew Saturday had them 7 down dropped too many catches and lost to Kimba yesterday by 2 wickets - Two very good games Had Kimba on the ropes at 80 for 7 as well but they knocked it off in the penultimate over.

Think we were just relieved to get off the mark - particularly with another three cry-offs on Saturday morning including both opening bowlers.

Maley was a handful on Saturday like - bowled one of the best balls I've ever seen to Micky O. I think you could be as good as him if you develop his accuracy and ability to spin the ball.....
 
Any body using the offical DCCL facebook site?

It seems to be getting well behind already. I thought the idea was to keep all teams uptodate with all of the results and tables from firsts to under 11s.

The site looks OK but needs to be updated weekly other wise it willfall into disuse.
