Anyone whose called for Pietersen to be dropped at any point in the last 5 years wants their heads kicked in. Cook, KP, Broad are the only genuine world Xl players we have.

strauss is world class on his day, hes just had a poor run of form, and id argue that anderson is a much better bowler than broad. i also think prior is the best wicke-batsman in the world atm.

sorry to see kp gone, and with strauss overnight woes the cat is back amongst the pigeons

Jimmy would take the new ball with Steyn and only Ajmal would have a chance of keeping Swann out.

Come on then. Pick it.

Cook, Amla, Pietersen, De Villiers, Chanderpaul, Kallis, Prior, Ajmal, Anderson, Steyn, Philander.

Trott, Broad, Swann, Z. Khan in reserve.

Trott probably deserves to be in, in place of KP but fuck it, its my team

Very good ton from Strauss, although some of the bowling was suspect. Think this innings also highlights why those who want Pietersen out the side need to have a word with themselves. He is our only true world class batsman who is capable of getting us into winning positions when most others cant. The rate in which he scores can totally change a game. Interesting to see how tomorrow goes but it is already shaping up to be another good test match.

He's the epitome of a mercurial talent. Goes cheaply or gets a side into winning positions. That said he's something of a flat track bully, been a while since I've seen him get on top of a good attack. For me it's not been a case of wZnting him dropped, for the reasons you state-but I still think he is overrated for the reasons I state. Indispensable though.

I'd have Jayawardene in for Kallis (I'm ignoring the need for an allrounder and think Kallis isn't quite the player he was a few years back). I'd go for Sangakarra over Prior as well.

And I'm not quite sure Philander deserves to be in there unless you're going on form over the last 12 months.

And as you know, I'm big champions of both. Both worked hard to get to the top and should enjoy their time there. What I meant was natural ability, Cook, KP and Broad are the three naturally talented 'world class in any era' players we have.

Anyone got a stream?

I thought it was on Sky Sports 1 but my stream has F1 on

Just picked it off the top of my head, not necessarily all world but just who you would pick if you had a game tomorrow so form comes into it.

Its going to be great seeing england and south africa facing off against each otehr late this summer. cannot wait
