LVCC D1 - Somerset v Durham

Stokes playing purely as a batsman? It would make sense given his dodgy back.

Havent read any of the comments here so im sorry if this has seb written all over it but...

durham took a massive gamble here picking both harmison & plunkett and it looks like it is biting us badly on the arse.

it had to be obvious to all concerned that whilst either on there day is a match winning player it was just as conceivable, if not more likely, that they could be smacked round the park all day long.

because of that would it not have been more sensible to pick one of them? brathwiate seems to have been hung out to dry in the 2nds this year despite last year being one of our best bowlers, team low average of 24 or there abouts, second highest wicket taker iirc, cant get a sniff now and behind onions, thorp, claydon and most bizarrely harrison, harmison & plunkett :-?

the gamble i mentioned above even more bizzare what with harrison making his debut, that at least seems to have been a success but still. as much as i hate to say it, it llooks increasingly like there is no way back for harmy, at least plunkett has had one good game in the pro40 and can bat pretty well [for a bowler]. harmison is a complete passenger and has been for well over a year now:neutral:

Aye, I'd settle Harmison's contract sooner rather than later if it saved the club money

Maybe 3 or 4 years ago. Harmison is finished and Plunkett needs to leave and know what it is like to play for your livelihood.

Hardly 3 or 4 years. Harmison still took wickets last year, and at a better rate than onions if you look at the numbers, and plunkett has bowled two very good games in the pro40 this year.

They are bowling terribly in this match but they are still match winners on their days even now.

Knacked up his hand as well last season. Fair to say he's been very unlucky in the last year with injuries.

the back is a worry, everything else just happens and is bad luck, as you say.

although the finger was a fuck up, mis diagnosed or mis treated certainly
