A 15 year old lad wanting to play cricket should be allowed to play whenever especially when been told to do so by his county. How on earth they can kick Washington from an under 15 tournament (his age groups at his club) simply because he is playing? Laughable.
Because it's against the rules that have been in place for all academy players since it was set up?
Mr real - I'm informed that Washington have been told about the leagues decision and have accepted it. Assume you're in the loop?
He hasn't signed a contract with the academy..
Well if he isn't playing for the academy this season at all then it won't be a problem. Begs the question as to why WCC have accepted the leagues decision though?
I'm surprised no-one at Washington thought to check the rules before he was picked for all those teams!
Washington CC as far as im aware, have appealed against the decision.
Not what two different members of the league exec have told me, but they could be mistaken I suppose.
So what is the situation with him is he an academy player or not? If he's not in the academy squad then fair enough; if he is then the rules are (an always have been) pretty clear.
hylton are supposed to play washy 2nds next wed in the league cup.
do we now play murton or do we get the tie now?
Hylton play Washington.
Putting aside the fact that anyone who's involved with the Academy set up has no business whatsoever playing 2nd XI cricket in the first place; I very much doubt that any appeal WCC might have made against their disqualification will have been heard yet.
You love abit controversy don't you...
Not exactly sure what you're getting at. As far as I'm aware the rules are pretty clear so there's nothing controversial about what's happened? That's if he is involved in the Academy of course.
Does it actively involve you? Stop bitching and see what the league say to Washington.
I'm a coast league player so of course it involves me. It's in everyone's interests that the rules are applied properly isn't it? Otherwise we do we bother with them in the first place?
Notwithstanding; we already know what the league have said to Washington. It's now a question of whether they appeal which I'm informed they will not be doing.
Why sit on a message-board speculating and looking for a reaction out of people who are actively involved with Washington regarding an incident that occurred a week ago.
Discussions are on going between Washington, Durham Academy and the Durham Coast League as to the outcome of the incident.
Regarding the second team game, primarily at this stage it involves Washington, Murton and Hylton cricket club, there is absolutely no need to voice your opinion on what you have heard, or might have heard about the leagues apparent decision until all clubs involved have heard the outcome from the league themselves in relation to Washington's decision to appeal or accept.
Forgetting for a moment that it's a messageboard, and therefore has speculation as it's raison d'être; I haven't actually "speculated" at all.
What I've set out is (a) the rule and (b) the leagues decision (as told to me by 2 members of the exec) given that the rule has been broken. These are both facts, not speculation - facts that I would have thought you as a WCC player would be minded to thank me for bringing to your attention. Youre welcome.
Outstanding reposte. Let's hope you're not the one arguing WCCs case if there's an appeal.
