Name one top 6 keeper that comes and takes almost every cross. Cech doesn't, de Gea certainly doesn't, Hart doesn't, Friedel doesn't, none of the Arsenal lot do, Krul doesn't, Reina is probably the most adventurous and he still doesn't.

You're holding Gordon up against a fictional standard of keeper. They simply do not exist.

Gordon was good today, a few errors but expected given hes been out for so long
 
If Gordon can sort his reading of crosses out and his decision making, do I think he will be a top six keeper? Yes. It is something in my honest opinion he really needs to work on if he harbours ambitions of playing for a club that has regular European football.
But I just haven't seen any improvement in that area at all in his time here.
I don't want him claiming every single cross - I have never said he needs to do that. He just needs to get his decision making right.
I'm pretty sure Joe HArt would have been disappointed with himself had he conceded that second goal today.

I'm fairly sure he would have been more disappointed with his defenders that let the ball be crossed in with such ease, and then allowed the biggest aerial threat on the opposition team have a free header inside the box.

his goal kicks that went straight out for a throw in to Bolton twice iirc.
his slow reactions to a pass back...which thankfully he sorted out.

For all we know, behind the scenes the Doctors have been in and built him bigger, better, stronger..... he is after all the 9 million dollar man!
