Legalising would help but that'd have to be worldwide. I'm not talking about the dealers, I'm talking about the grassroots process - people in south and central America being forced to produce cocaine and being killed because they're caught in the crossfire between two drug gangs or a gang and the police.

With weed or artificial drugs, the only potential cost is generally the user, with heroin or coke, there's a whole load of people leading up to the dealer, who often don't have an option in their involvement.

like i said, only way to deal with all that shit is through governments/legislation. i suppose its the same type of shit with other things like diamonds. people want it and other people will supply, where it comes from doesnt really come into it for people

I know that and I think proper legislation is totally needed (but unlikely to happen). The article Walter posted highlights this, really.

nothing to condemn. the fact this country puts its head in the sand regarding drugs is pathetic. drugs are everywhere in every walk of life, its the tabloids and government firmly in denial and talking complete shite about it. there is no sense at all in demonising users and the only way to tackle dealers is by legalising, not locking up, that achieves fuck all
