So what does this mean for the DSL? my team burnmoor have been up the top of this league for years, with some of the best players in the league. I'm in under 18's and moving into all the senior side's next season, bit worried reading all this. Looks like we could be left behind, seaham harbour and washington's grounds are awful after reading the list of applicants.

You need to ask your clubs committee to be honest, everyone had the chance to apply.

Just out of curiosity, what's awful about Washingtons ground?

Played at Sacriston a few times and they have done a good bit of work on the place. New pavilion is superb, and they have about a million kids coming through their junior section. I think they will be pretty high up the list.

Good junior set up

Pavilion had been modernised

No decent covers when we were there last year

Washington is a lovely little ground and club

Sunderland cc have rugby played on their ground so I doubt a bumpy outfield is a problem and its hardly a reason to call it awful

I mean as in wavy, its up and down all over. The pavilion is alright, just the outfield is crap. Little hills everywhere, its not very flat

Burnmoor have had ample opportunityto move into NEPL when they have won the DSL - they just don't want to.

Their first team is full of good, but older players who don't want to entertain the possibility of all day cricket so they don't apply - it's as simple as that.

Big fish, little pool springs to mind.

Nowt wrong with Washington they are showing ambition, they were in the NEDL not so long ago.

Washington have a crap first team and will get lashed off everyone. I know burnmoor don't want too move up to the nepl, just don't see why all the other clubs are abandoning the league they've played in for a number of years. Plus i don't think we have the money for nepl, we've been saving for an electronic scoreboard for about 3 years now.

Stop paying the players and you would have had one by now I would have guessed

When was the last time you played Washington 1st team? I know we have never played against Burnmoor recently so I guess your answer is never.

We won the league cup last season and were only beat 3 times in the league. 9 players under 24. We are a young and improving team. If we were accepted it will be tough but a couple new faces and experienced heads and I think we'll surprise a few teams.

When the NEPL started Chester and South North were no where near the best clubs in the north east. We are ambitious with a good structure and certainly not scared of a bit hard work. Everyone has to start from somewhere.

How? everyone i speak to on a regular basis have said they're first team isn't very good, i know they have a good junior set up. Just saying what i've been told, plus they didn't win the league last year so can't be that good.

As far as i'm aware there's only one player that gets paid, and he scored about 12 hundreds last season.

You are aware wrong marra , my guess there will be 5 or so. About 4 or 5 getting paid down Horden and Burnmoor have been a much better side the past few year so go and figure

Neither did most of the teams applying. Are they no good? Except Brandon. Best team in the world.

The fact remains that the 13 teams who have applied all think they're good enough, and the 12 that are deemed good enough will be decided by a committee of knowledgeable people; not some jumped up junior from a team who haven't even applied despite plenty of chances.

And you can't have played at many grounds if an outfield that's 'slow' and 'has a few hills' bothers you.

You are clearly not getting the point!

Good luck to them i'm not really bothered, just wanted to see what this meant for Burnmoor. And im not a 'jumped up junior' actually i'm in the last year of under 18-s play regularly for the 2nds and have played a few games for the 1st team.

I don't mean its slow i mean its up and down, not very even or good in my opinion. Which is only my opinion, chill out.

No i'm pretty sure there's not many of them getting paid. I've been there for 8 years and i've never heard of any of the players getting paid other than the overseas pro or star player. The club doesn't have enough money for it, the reason they've been good is all the older lads are class. They're getting on a bit now though and it's nearly time to replace them.

Burnmoor will either stay with a depleted DSL or jump ship and try and ply their trade in the coast league or county league failing that they could end up in the north east durham league.

players don't admit they're getting paid as one its generally against league rules, two if people knew what each other were on there would be others asking to be paid or paid a similar amount.

You honestly think we would go into the coast league or lower? more likely we will stay in the DSL and win it on a regular basis. I can't see the clubs junior set up surviving for long if we went into rubbish leagues like that, not when philly are round the corner applying to be in a better league.
