2 very poor dismissals this test by Cook. Gave his wicket away twice with poor shots from nothing balls. The knacker is supposed to occupy the crease and get us a start

Might need to rejig the order IMO.

Neither Strauss, Cook or Trott are very competent against spin.

I would open with Prior

What a f***ing idiot.

25-2 and there's a man on the deep square leg boundary and he plays that shot.

They have found ways to get out against the quicks and spinner

strauss "we need to be paitient with the bat"

so we not only fuck that off 1st innings, we dont learn from it and do exactly the same thing 2nd innings

Surely having those three at the top of the order reduces their chances of facing spin. I don't see anything wrong with the order, this has just been brainless batting.

Glad I picked this morning to have a bit of a lie in, not a great start. What a stupid shot that was from KP, when will he ever learn to be patient in a situation like this, I was really hoping for an innings like his double ton against India at Lord's where he just plodded away, occupied the crease and slowly notched up the runs.

I do think that Bell and Trott are the kind of batsmen with the temperament to stay in for quite a while and just slowly pick up the runs where available. It's going to be a tight game now though, need to bat out the rest of today and tomorrow, which looks a massive ask.

Trott is going to be in trouble at some point if he keeps going back to some fairly full deliveries from Ajmal.

36 for 4

If we get til tea we have had a result.

This has been coming a mile off

We just need a partnership to get going, tea is the first target, then drinks, then the close. We're capable of it, but we're making bloody heavy weather of it by trying to play shots that aren't on. Decent ball to get Bell, it happens, but Strauss, Cook and KP all out to stupid shots.

At least Trott looks to be playing with some common sense and patience, hopefully Morgan can hang around a bit as well with his ability against spin. We'll need a repeat performance from Prior when he comes in as well, hopefully that won't be until tomorrow, but I won't count on it.

Got to feel a bit sorry for our bowlers. Knocking them over for less than 350 on a flat deck and our batsmen have let us down big time. Lack of application and concentration.

Respectability is the best we can hope for now. A pretty decent kick up the arse this has turned out to be.

bollocks.

We got spanked 5-0 in India because the batsman didnt have a clue most of the time. It makes no difference what format, the principle of how to play spin in asian conditions is still the same (you just dont have to score as many runs per over in longer format).

We have learnt nothing and continue to 'plod' along. Let them play IPL instead of subjecting them to 'gimme games' against the Windies in May, play the Lions against WI

Some of the things the Pakistanis appeal for are absolutely ridiculous.

Morgan, playing a shot gets hit on the pad a yard outside the line of off stump and they all go up.

EB the IPL is a bag of shite, bedwetting is for the PF forum, just sit back and breathe deeply.

Umar Guls decision to review that LBW that was about 3 yards outside off stump in the first innings was surreal

Looks like the lads fancy the rest of the afternoon off

The IPL would improve our batsman in alien conditions. period.
Morgan and Pietersen have both played in the IPL and they still look clueless in these conditions.

And besides who would take the likes of Strauss, Trott, Cook and Bell for a T20 competition?
